Scholarships and internships in North America

The Performance & Filtration Minerals business group has set up a scholarship and internship program in the United States.

The scholarship program, created in May 2010, involves providing financial support to undergraduate and postgraduate students in North America towards the cost of their education.

The selection process has three stages: 25 applications are reviewed by a committee made up of HR managers and operational staff. The 11 short-listed candidates are invited to Santa Barbara⁽¹⁾ (California) to present their final-year project and give highlight their reasons for wanting to join Imerys. The selection committee chooses six winners.
The beneficiaries of the scholarship commit to finish their studies and to join the Imerys internship program during the upcoming summer.
Following the first year's success, the initiative was renewed in 2011 & 2012.

Summer internships with the North America Filtration Minerals and North America Performance Minerals divisions last at least eight weeks. Each intern is given a specific project within the company. Supported by a mentor, the student personally presents the results to the management team at the end of the contract. If they are subsequently hired, on-the-job training and an internship supervisor ensure that candidates are operational as soon as possible.
