The Position

S&T Scientist / Engineer

Job Summary


●      Projects:

o  Performs tasks/ projects of a larger scope and takes the responsibility for assuring quality, cost effectiveness & timeliness for those projects.

o  Develops materials and processes in the own field of responsibility as well as support of projects in other related fields.

o  Use of appropriate tools and methods as well as development and implementation of new processes/methods to improve the current knowledge and way of working

o  Instruct and supervise preparation of customer samples and optimization after customer feedback

o  Operational assistance to division plants

●      Reporting:

o  Captures own knowledge and findings in proper technical reports / memo's and shares with colleagues and others

o  Prepare deliverables and resource planning in the Project Management Tool ACCOLADE

o  Organize stage gate meetings and prioritize multiple projects

●      Safety:

o  Actively implements and drives the improvement of safety procedures following ITC-TJ and Aluminates TEDA site safety protocols (e.g. S7; FMEA; risk assessments) and is a role model for the colleagues

o  Organize and supervise safe and clean working environments (5S), maintenance in the area of responsibility and ensure improvements

●      External network & scientific contribution:

o  Preparation of papers, new proposals, etc., and presentation at conferences / congresses / seminars

o  External collaborations and networking to share and extend know-how

o  Support on specific organizational topics in ITC-AT such as Audits, communication with authorities, etc.

●      IP:

o  Has an advanced knowledge of IP relevant topics and supports in IP evaluations as well as patent filings.

o  Has also advanced knowledge in Chinese patent system and performs routing patent alerts

●      Problem solving and technical excellence:

o  Has distinguishing technical expertise; has broad knowledge of principles, practices & procedures in the field of specialization.

o  Develops extensions to accepted research methods; may develop new research methods; extends knowledge and technology into new application areas.


●China - Tianjin


●     MSc or Ph.D. in material sciences, chemistry, physics, process engineering or similar subjects. Knowledge of powder engineering, refractories, ceramics, material characterization and instrumental chemical analysis methods (XRF, ICP-OES), statistical process control are preferred.

●     Mandarin and English (both written and conversational)

●     Self-motivated, keen on problem solving, team player

●     good communication skills

●     travel: approx 20%, mainly domestic, but also some international travel
