The Position

Mine & Process Manager

Job Summary

JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS

  • Ensuring optimum mine feed of approximately 150,000 MT annually.

  • Processing to deliver approximately 100,000 MT annually of finished goods.

  • Annual overburden campaigns ranging from 0 - 1.5MT.

  • Mining and Process team of 4FTE plus mining contractors.

  • LOM reserves of 3MT plus resources.

  • Implementation and deployment of the Imerys Continuous Improvement programs on the assignment target.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for Environment, Health & Safety performance and compliance within the mine, process, laboratory, finished goods and logistics functions ensuring safety best-in-class standards are achieved.

  • Manages all aspects of the production process across the site incl. blasting, mining, processing, production planning, inventory control, procurement of consumables, cost control, process maintenance priorities (mechanical and engineering), industrial projects / capex, process improvement, quality, energy consumption optimization and continuous improvement initiatives, in close coordination with the Operations Manager, Industrial Hub Director and PM APAC Centre of Excellence.

  • Optimise Mobile Equipment activities and efficiencies.

  • Manage geological and geotechnical activities in close communication with the PM APAC Geology & Mining team. 

  • Identify mining and processing faults and initiate their repair or improvement.

  • Ensures products are manufactured and delivered on schedule, and within quality standards and cost objectives.

  • Develops the site mining plan in coordination with the Operations Manager, Industrial Hub Director and with the support of PM APAC CoE.

  • Leads optimization in mining and process areas to address competitiveness / demand requirements, incl. capex execution, flexibility and reduction of lead-times,  productivity / energy consumption, cost reduction / continuous improvement (operational excellence) programs, in coordination with Operations Manager, Industrial Hub Director and PM APAC CoE.

  • Key interfaces: ensures tight coordination on site with Operations Manager, Industrial Hub Director, Logistics suppliers, EHS Manager, Maintenance Team and Finance.  

  • Compiling mining, process and cost reports for Operations Manager to document performance. 

  • Presentation of monthly mining and process reports detailing performance against defined Key Performance Indicators.

  • Preparation and delivery of annual process budgets and interim forecast updates.

  • Deploys and sustains Imerys Continuous Improvement program within the Hub (Industrial & supply chain operations) by supporting the 2 legs of I3: improving Working conditions with MUST HAVES (5S, rituals of management and dust management) and generating margin improvement with cost saving projects.

  • Generates detailed continuous improvement initiatives across the plants of the hub to generate savings with the cooperation of the local team and plant managers.

  • Follow up action plan in each site separately in monthly improvement call.

  • At hub level, monitors progress of continuous improvement projects and related savings, including process management improvement, process modification, energy optimization.

  • Year on year net cost reduction & productivity improvement and respect of budget.

  • Continuous improvement performance (I-CUBE).

  • Proactive involvement and contribution to CSR projects.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Key competencies

    • Recognized management skills (ability to manage diverse teams)

    • Good knowledge of all mining and process aspects (Safety, Production, Quality, Cost, Process, Procurement, Capex…)

    • Detailed knowledge and understanding of mining and process equipment and its operation

    • Ability to track operational costs and adapt cost management to business changes +/-.

    • Demonstrated capabilities of reaching cost reduction and productivity by promoting a continuous improvement mindset

    • Strong statistical analysis of business practices

    • Multitasking skills

    • Crisis management

    • Customer oriented mindset 

    • Ability to manage and facilitate diverse teams operating on shifts

  • Ideal background / experience

    • Minimum 5 years experience in mining, process, industrial manufacturing management, experience of customer oriented organization. Talc processing experience would be a significant advantage.

    • Geological/Mining Engineer or equivalent 

  • Typical profile

    • Medium size Industrial Operations Site Manager

  • Languages:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, conversing in other local language

  • Familiarity with Mine Planning including mining software is a plus (Surpac, Datamine or equivalent)

  • Ability to problem solve to meet the needs for, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Strong appetite for numbers.

  • Self motivated.

  • Knowledge of customer requirements .

  • Ability to positively influence others w/o direct reporting lines. 

  • At ease with IT tools: ERP, specific supply chain modules, Google Suite

  • A 6Sigma certification is a plus
