The Position
Process EngineerJob Summary
Based at our flagship manufacturing plant in Lompoc, CA, we are hiring a Process Engineer. You will be responsible for providing analytical and process engineering support for all production processes. Responsible for operational data collection and analysis and operations process improvement initiatives. Monitors and manages operational processes and procedures to ensure productivity and cost control in line with facility and division goals. Ensures baseline data integrity and measures and reports on improvement trends to facilitate decision making in key production processes and business initiatives. Engages in facilitating and coordinating process and product development trials. Adheres to all Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluates, analyzes and develops NPD initiatives for transformation of existing businesses
Develops long and short term process and operational improvement goals, sustains direction toward achieving goals through communication of results and development of ideas and operational strategies
Partners with division engineering for development and implementation of capital projects and process improvement initiatives
Manages design, upgrades, modifications, troubleshooting and commissioning of process and equipment improvement initiatives
Assesses processes for relevance while assessing adequacy of equipment for processing
Applies the principles of mass, momentum and processing flow to existing processes and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme and detail design
Tracks, analyzes and suggest improvements for productivity data at plants including, but not limited to, tons / hour, tons per man hour, downtime by reason, chemical usage, natural gas usage and electricity usage
Develops risk assessments including hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies
Ensures processing at optimum levels, aligned with standards and quality parameters
Develops and maintains processes for scheduling and prioritizing activities in line with production and maintenance activities
Produces and demonstrates process simulation models, established baseline, post initiative and gap analysis views
Collates, processes and communicates operational historical data; provides correlation to process settings
Ensures quality production, throughputs, recoveries, and maintenance reliability in line with facility and division goals
Works closely with engineering and technical functions responsible for production and quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods; plant maintenance, operational personnel and commercial support functions
Performs daily reporting and administrative functions as defined by the Site or Production Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful US-based candidates must be fully vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
BS in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical)
Minimum 3 years of experience in daily plant operations, project development and planning and statistical model recording and reporting
