Role overview:
The position is demanding and the incumbent must be capable and competent to cope with the service and development demands of a continuous operation. The incumbent will be required to be available after hours for consultation and remote support during equipment failures or planned works, and will be provided with communication tools to enable such support.
The incumbent must be capable of defining work procedures and methods within the Maintenance framework as defined by the Group, co-ordinated and managed locally by the Manager responsible for Engineering Services.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Executing maintenance tasks including inspection, preventive, predictive, reactive, alignment and fault finding activities
Inspecting, measuring, reporting and maintaining records of the condition of the machinery and equipment
Responding to after-hours consultation and providing technical support during equipment failures
Coordinating and supervising internal and external maintenance workforce if required
Isolating and making systems/equipment safe to work on for oneself and others if required
Operating and caring for various equipment, tools and vehicles (as per training) to assist in safe execution of maintenance tasks i.e. Fork Lift Trucks, Cherry Picker
Building of systems, mechanical or electrical as required and within reasonable limits of capability and skills
Switching of power, LV or HV, working on high voltage motors and systems, working on power distribution systems as trained and appointed competent, as and when required
Adhering and contributing to maintaining maintenance management policies and framework. This includes updating technical detail, job guidelines, method statements, risk assessments, CMMS database, drawings, financial plans, projects list etc.
Supporting and contributing towards maintenance planning/ scheduling, spare parts management, reliability and project functions. This includes absent coverage for maintenance planning, foreman and store keeping positions if required
Participating in engineering projects’ feasibility studies, technical specification, planning, installation, execution, commissioning, hand over and operation stages if required
Participating in training and regular meetings as required to deliver duties.

Qualifications & Experience
NVQ Level 3 (or served an apprenticeship) or equivalent qualifications within mechanical engineering is essential.
Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent qualification in Engineering is desirable.
Around 10 years mechanical based maintenance experience and proven competency in inspection, maintenance and operation of equipment like material handling equipment, power transmission equipment, compressors, fans etc. in a heavy production / manufacturing environment
Proven experience of mechanical fault finding, diagnostic, problem solving, alignment and component selection skills
Good understanding and experience of condition monitoring techniques i.e. vibration analysis and oil analysis
Good understanding and experience of metalworking, welding and fabrication techniques
Reasonable understanding and experience of electrical engineering, pneumatic, hydraulic and control systems
Reasonable understanding and experience of relevant engineering legislative requirements such as LOLER, PUWER, and PSSR
Capacity and willingness to respond to afterhours breakdowns (physically and remotely)
Valid Fork Lift Truck Driving Certificate (or willingness to gain this licence)
Valid MEWPs Certificate (or willingness to gain this licence)
Valid First Aid Certificate (or willingness to gain this qualification)
Health and Safety NEBOSH or IOSH Certification desirable.
IT Skills and experience of using computer software applications e.g. Microsoft Office, Internet Browsing, Email and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) applications
Good report writing and communication skills
