The Position

Demand Planning and S&OP Manager

Job Summary


The Demand Planning and S&OP Manager manages sales forecast and operation capacities on assigned group of minerals to ensure alignment of functions and Top Management to delivery of mid to long-term business targets while facilitating the resolution of the short term issues in coordination with the the other functions.


  • Be the facilitator for the resolution of the short term issues by involving all relevant stakeholders. 

  • Develop the competencies of the different stakeholders to make them autonomous to manage the short-term issues (Customer Service managers, Logistics manager, Production managers)

  • Establish and execute an S&OP process for the assigned group of minerals

  • Coordinate demand forecasting process, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information from markets & finance, for multiple time horizons (18m rolling, year end..) for a  group of minerals

  • Manage the S&OP cycle, incl. pre-S&OP meetings (operations planning)  and monthly S&OP meetings (Demand, Supply and reconciliation meeting reviews, Executive S&OP, quarterly)
    Ensure data generated by functional stakeholders is suitable for S&OP process and initiates improvement actions if necessary (e.g. : demand forecasts accuracy)

  • Analyze supply and demand issues. Prepares all data, metrics and scenarios to be discussed during S&OP meetings

  • Ensure identification, monitoring and reporting of assumptions, risks and opportunities related to the medium to long-term business targets. Escalate as appropriate

  • Manage & optimise inventory at sites level.

  • Lead allocation plan when required in coordination with the Product managers & Sales teams

Key interfaces: strong partnership to be built with (i) Segments leadership, (ii) product management,  (iii) Supply Chain, (iii) Operations; (iv) Purchasing; (v) Finance

Competencies & Experience

Key competencies

  • Good / practical understanding of S&OP best practices

  • Project management 

  • Very at ease with data management, very familiar with IT tools. Advocate for data integrity

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Very good communication skills 

  • Able to summarize things that could be complex

  • Agile & adaptable in an environment where data is not always easily accessible

  • Very good facilitator to solve issues with various stakeholders

  • Willing to be hands-on for the coordination of the resolution of short-term issues

  • Good pedagogy to develop stakeholders skills.

  • Very good Interpersonal skills, 

  • Ability to propose solutions

Ideal background/ experience

  • 5+ years of in production or logistics  planification / sales forecast management  

  • Typical profile :  S&OP manager, Production manager, I3 champion, sales manager


  •  OTIF, Inventory level, adhesion to S&OP plan, customer satisfaction
