The Position
EHS ManagerJob Summary
Based at our facility in Niagara Falls, Imerys is seeking an EHS Manager to provide direct environmental and safety leadership at the plant level.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety practices and results for the site
Performs site gap analysis for Environmental, Health, and Safety with Imerys guidelines and applicable regulatory standards
Implements EHS action plans
Creates, conducts and schedules onsite Safety training at all organizational levels
Develops and implements new policies and procedures to enhance site safety and regulatory requirements
Ensures H&S best-in-class industrial standards are achieved in the framework of Imerys Safety System; Implements safety protocols/initiatives for the site; Promotes a strong Safety culture across the site
Defines preventive action plans for continuous improvements on environmental, health and safety to ensure zero incidents across the site; In case of any accident / incident, conducts investigation and root cause analysis and defines in collaboration with the Site Manager the corrective action plans
Collaborates with Site managers and other EHS managers to transfer best practices quickly
Administrative duties include: Monthly safety and environmental KPI reporting
Works alongside Site/Production managers to ensure compliance is being met on all safety protocols
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
BS Degree preferred
Good knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety Systems
Well versed in local and industrial EHS regulations
Strong leadership skills and the ability to positively influence teams within the organization
Demonstrated project management skills with a continuous Improvement mindset
Minimum 7 years combined experience in Safety and/or Environmental roles in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Environmental experience including air and water sampling
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, risk assessment & reduction, developing and administering training programs, accident investigation and resolution
Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance, incident investigating and reporting protocols.
Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
First Aid/AED Certification a plus
ENVIRONMENT:
Travel up to 10% of the time.
Work in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in outdoors, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
Physical requirements are those of a standard office and a manufacturing plant, including working at heights, walking on uneven surfaces, etc.
