The Position

Sales Manager Iron and Steel

Job Summary

IMERYS, through its High Temperature Solutions (HTS) division, is looking for a strong candidate to be dedicated to the Iron and Steel customers in North America, managing all aspects of the company's portfolio of SteelCasting Fluxes and Refractories. The candidate would manage the sales, application and service for existing products and accounts so as to ensure the meeting of annual sales budgets.

Position Title: Sales Account Manager- Steel Casting Flux and Refractories

Location: Home Based (South Carolina - Preferred, NC, GA or Eastern TN)

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and preserve relationships with customers, and be responsible for all sales activities in the specific territory;
  • Identify and explore new business opportunities within a specific sales territory, working towards market share increase for Steel Casting Fluxes and Refractories dedicated to various metals industry applications.
  • Work closely with the Regional Sales Manager and/or Sales Director preparing annual budget plans based on Imerys and Calderys products, approving development plans and identifying new market opportunities, meeting annual sales targets by identifying technical and/or performance issues, transforming that scenario into a new business opportunity;
  • Provide accurate inputs to the Sales Planning function to manage the forecast;
  • Ensures tight coordination with Industry, Marketing, S&T and Business Analyst;
  • Leads Sales and initial Technical Support for the geography/ segment;
  • Drives transformation and implements new organization and ways of working for his/her perimeter;
  • Monitor the use of company’s products on a routine basis, compiling and submitting detailed survey reports and product updates to our customers and internal departments;
  • Conduct trials and submit detailed reports containing info collected during those trials, collect customer and competitor data, and report to appropriate parties to provide continuous improvement and customer satisfaction;
  • Monitor and control inventories of customers by forecasting product usage to guarantee continuous supply and on time delivery;
  • Complete monthly consignment closing and report any discrepancies that will determine the profitability of the company;
  • For non-consigned products assure that purchase orders are sent in to Customer Service in a timely manner thereby ensuring continuous supply;

Skills and Attributes Requirements:

  • Solid Steelmaking process knowledge;
  • Steelcasting Fluxes and/or Refractories for steelmaking product knowledge;
  • Superior technical aptitude to understand and propose solutions for customer’s demand on Steelcasting and/or refractory products;
  • Technical ability and proficiency with Google tools, CRM Salesforce and SAP or equivalent;
  • Analytical thinking capability, leveraging data analysis, report generation, product proposals and performance measurement skills;
  • Customer Orientation - Ability to understand, communicate and meet customer needs, integrating that to Imerys’ best practices;
  • Excellent internal and external communication and relationship building skills;
  • A proven record of adaptability to different cultures;
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time within the USA (Southeast territory mainly);


  • B.S. degree in a marketing or technical discipline preferred - Extensive knowledge/experience should also be considered;
  • Successful US-based candidates must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Sales experience in the Steel industry - Continuous Casting and/or Refractory products a plus;
  • Previous experience managing a sales territory of +$5M/annually;
