Safety Installation Officer UK

Job Summary

Calderys  - High Temperature Solutions 

A vacancy has arisen for a Safety Installation Officer (UK) to be based at our Ellesmere Port site with regular travel to Leeds and customer sites. The purpose of the role is to establish a positive Safety culture within Calderys, through the development of a proactive approach to Safety Management and Installation workforce. 

The ideal team member will assist in the development and management of activities and systems associated with Calderys Health and Safety Policies, identifying where improvements can be made to realise operational and business excellence. They will also provide technical advice and manage compliance, so that Health and Safety stays at the top of every agenda and is embedded in all aspects of business thinking and decision making.


  •  Responsible for providing efficient and effective Health & Safety support to Calderys installation business in the United Kingdom ensuring consistency of approach.

  • Be a member of the UK site management team taking the lead on Health & Safety initiatives that may address important and potentially sensitive issues, especially at our customer sites.

  • Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of Calderys Safety Management Systems to ensure that Calderys comply with relevant country legislation and Calderys policies.

  • Ensure all incidents, unsafe situations and near misses are investigated thoroughly. Ensure appropriate root cause analysis is done as well as control measures and improvements are implemented to prevent reoccurrence and promote a Zero Incident and safety culture.

  • Maintain Health and Safety Audit systems (internal & external), procedures and conducting audits and communicating the findings.

  • Conduct safety inspections at installation projects whenever required including in house safety inspections at both the Ellesmere Port and Leeds site on a frequent basis. 

  • Safety Administration: Including the management of the KPI dashboard

This role will involve travel 25-50% of the time at customer sites in the perimeter as well as in the Calderys business managed from Europe.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience working with both temporary and permanent workers as well as contractors

  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Legislation

  • Recognised Health and Safety Qualification. Ability to provide accurate and comprehensive written and verbal reports.

  • Effective team player  and able to lead and to work autonomously

  • Competent IT skills including excel and relevant safety management systems


  • Degree in Safety or EHS education.(Nebosh or equivalent)

  • Demonstrable practical experience in Safety in a related business (e.g. offshore, construction, installation in dangerous and hazardous industrial environment) & in safety behaviour policies and practices.

  • Full car driving license.
