The Position

EHS Manager Italy Hub

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE 

Leads in his/her hub, EHS activities to reach zero accidents & improve environmental performance, in line with Imerys group and industry policies.


JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS 
Part of the Business Area Performance Minerals EMEA which scope is: 80 sites in 24 countries - 3700 employees - €1.2b revenue.
Italy Hub involves 6 production sites, 2 quarries, 1 underground mine and 2 logistics platforms. The sites are located in Avezzano and  Carrara for Carbonates, Civita Castellana for Ceramics, Corsico and Morgonggiori for Perlite and Rodoretto, Porte and Malanaggio for Talc.
The number of employees - 170 - in 5 legal entities.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Alongside  the Hub Director, and functionally aligned to the PM EMEA EHS team, responsible for Environment, Health, Safety practices and results across the hub sites and teams

  • Ensures H&S best-in-class industrial standards are achieved in the framework of Imerys Safety System. Leads H&S systems at hub level and supports H&S managers on site

  • Promotes a strong Safety culture across the hub.

  • Ensures industrial and mining operations of the hub are run in compliance with local environmental regulations, best-in class industry practices and Imerys guidelines

  • Prioritizes EHS programs and corrective action plans implementation

  • In case of any accident / incident, conducts investigation and root cause analysis to define in collaboration with the site managers and local EHS managers  the corrective action plans

  • Collaborates with Hub Operation managers, Site managers and on-site EHS managers to transfer best practices quickly

  • Performs Environment, H&S site gap analysis with Imerys guidelines and local regulatory EHS standards

  • Shares good practices across the hub

  • Key interfaces: ensures tight coordination with Hub Manager, BA EHS managers, sites managers and site local EHS contacts.

  • The Hub EHS manager can be acting as EHS manager of the lead site of the hub.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of his/her time in Italy

  • Key competencies

  • Good knowledge of  Safety Systems

  • Well versed in local and industrial EHS regulations

  • Ability to positively influence teams in a matrix organization

  • Good Leadership

  • Continuous Improvement mindset 

  • Ability to organize skills development path

  • Ideal background/ experience

  • Engineer or equivalent

  • Good level of English & Italian

  • •3-5 years experience EHS system implementation and EHS management
