The Position

Marketing Director - Ceramics & Building Products - Performance Minerals EMEA

Job Summary

Market and competitive intelligence

  •  Monitor and analyze the trends in demand, production, and trade flows of our products and its end users’ applications. 

  •  Monitor competitive environment and market share evolution

  •  Define competitive benchmarks and SWOT analysis

  •  Leverage market and competitive intelligence to ensure prompt response to potential business opportunities and threats

Market Strategy

  • Build a comprehensive segment strategy and marketing plan for each of the market segments in collaboration with the Sales Directors, the Technical Director and other relevant stakeholders

Product Portfolio Management

  • Optimize product portfolio to maximize competitive advantage and profitability, in alignment with the Product Manager, the Sales Directors and the Technical Support Director

  • Develop clear and quantifiable value proposition for each of our products

  •  Define recommended price list per segment based on: market strategy, value equation, competitive dynamics, and profitability

Drive innovation and new product development 

  • Establish new product development strategy and roadmap, in cooperation with S&T and Tech Support Directors

  • Assess and justify NPD, new business, and capacity expansions initiatives

  • Coordinate the stage-gate process, the prioritization of projects and regular project updates in cooperation with S&T and Technical Support teams

Support the commercial development efforts

  • Identify and animate commercial development opportunities

  •  Develop concepts and tools to promote the portfolio’s value proposition 

  •  Develop relationship with key stakeholders in the market (trade associations, OEM’s, etc) to gain market insight and identify cooperation opportunities

  •  Champion Commercial Excellence initiatives and CRM utilization

Responsible for driving communication effort

  •  Define communication needs and direction (brochures, trade shows, advertising, etc) and interface with Communications team for its implementation

  •  Actively drive social media, external and internal communication plan

  • Key competencies

    • Deep technical and market understanding of products and application

    • Proven experience in Industrial Marketing in a company where the function is mature 

    • Previous experience in B2B industrial marketing  role 

    • Strong business sense and ability to interact effectively with people from all backgrounds and levels

    • Strategic mind, hands-on, result-oriented, good interpersonal skills

    • Ability to positively influence others w/o direct reporting lines

    • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively communicate to the top levels of the organisation. 

  • Ideal background/experience & others

    • Engineering degree/PhD in material science or chemistry, ideally completed by a MBA or Master Degree in Business / Marketing

    • >10  years experience in marketing and / or technical development / production in relevant industry

    • Strong network in relevant industry

    • Preferred location : Paris 

    • Additional location : La Hulpe (Belgium), Spain, Italy (near Ceramics clusters)
