Health & Safety SpecialistJob Summary
The Position
Health & Safety Specialist - Western US. This role can be home-based with up to 50% travel. There is flexibility on the home-base for this role within the Western US.
Job Summary
The Health and Safety Specialist supports all aspects of the Health and Safety regulatory compliance function for both of Imerys’ and applicable regulatory bodies. The position supports development, implementation and administration of Health and Safety compliance programs, regulatory analysis, compliance with the applicable Code of Federal Regulations, licenses, audits, industrial hygiene workplace sampling and other aspects of Health and Safety management.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the management of the litigation portfolio in coordination with external legal services Annual Industrial Hygiene Monitoring & Reports
Industrial Hygiene Sampling, Reporting, and Corrective Action Follow-ups
Regulatory Inspections, Reporting, and Record Keeping
Regulatory Training Oversight, Delivery, and Implementation (New Hire and ART)
Site Compliance with applicable S1-S29 Protocol (includes program development, training, and implementation)
Site Compliance with H1-H7 Protocols (includes program development, training, and implementation)
Internal Site Compliance Inspections (OSHA, MSHA, Protocols)
Safety Maturity Matrix Updates
Industrial Hygiene Maturity Matrix
Incident Reporting and Investigation (Learning Team)
Enablon Management (creation of users, reporting, data entry, etc.)
Radiation Safety Officer duties
EHS, MSR, SCIT, and OLE Follow-Up and CAP Completion
Coordination with site S&H Champion (training, development, assistance with protocol implementation)
S&H Red-On-Line Legal Registry Management Updates
Workers Compensation (submit claims and work with adjuster)
Directs the work of the EHS Technician when applicable
Emergency Response / Manage First Aid / CPR Teams
Conduct at least 2 site compliance and improvement visits / year / site; with other travel as required
Build Strong relationships with site management to ensure Responsibility and Accountability for all aspects of the Imerys Safety & Health System are established
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
Bachelor’s Degree (technical discipline, such as Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related area, preferred).
Minimum 5 years Relevant EHS Experience in Mining and/or Heavy Industry
Working knowledge of Federal and State S&H regulations.
EHS certifications (CIH, CSP, CMSP & CHMM) are beneficial but not required.
50% Travel (unless if located in Lompoc, CA - then 30%)
