The PositionCorporate Counsel

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
Based at our North American headquarters in Roswell, Georgia, you will serve as the principal business lawyer in North America for one or more market segments or sub-segments of the Performance Minerals Americas business area. In this role, you will handle all commercial contracts for customers in these markets, as well as other business legal matters as they arise.
You will also lead the Legal department’s relationship with the North America Purchasing function. The Purchasing team engages across the entire supply chain to procure essential goods and services required to perform our business. It serves all three of the Imerys business areas present in North America. You will be personally responsible for several major purchasing categories, and for coordinating all purchasing legal work across the department.
The Corporate Counsel will serve as a strategic advisor to the business, advising on all manner of new initiatives while promoting responsible business practices and proactively managing legal risk. You will be a valued partner to your clients and a member of a cohesive legal team that supports a global powerhouse in our industry.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as primary legal contact for commercial teams operating in one or more markets;
Serve as primary legal contact for Purchasing function in North America;
Draft, negotiate, and finalize a wide variety of commercial agreements;
Independently manage complex negotiations regarding a broad spectrum of matters;
Engage directly with senior management with little or no supervision; and
Assist with additional tasks and projects as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar;
Three or more years of law practice, either in-house or at a reputable law firm;
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
Broad and consistent experience drafting and negotiating business agreements;
Proven ability to independently manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects;
Quick learner and willing to take on new tasks as needed;
Sound and practical business judgment and a keen interest in deeply understanding the business;
Consistent, responsive, high-quality legal service in a dynamic business environment;
Experience using Google Suite and contract management software a plus; and
Limited travel possible (less than 15 days per year).
