The Position
Project Manager - IndustrialJob Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for all capital and construction projects at our plant in Andersonville, GA. The position has the responsibility for formulating initial project concepts; feasibility studies; front end engineering/estimating; applying for CAPEX Project authorization; specification writing; technical bid alignment; detailed engineering; onsite Project Execution and Construction Management - through to closing documentation. They will be responsible for managing and coordinating efforts of all functions within a project team: safety, process, production, maintenance, electrical, automation, external engineering, contractor work. This position must work with Purchasing to meet the spirit and intent of Imerys Purchasing procedures.
Annual CAPEX budget of $4-5M and 25-30 projects ranging from $20k to $1M.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensure each CAPEX project is completed safely, on time and within budget.
Managing Contractor Safety on an MSHA regulated site
Optimize Investment profitability (CAPEX reduction and performance improvements)
Compare/investigate different possible alternates (CAPEX,OPEX, risks) and justify the recommended solution looking for the best total cost for ownership.
Ensure each major CAPEX (>1M€) is prepared according to Imerys Group standards.
Apply varying project execution strategies according to the type of project.
Support individual technical experts with required cost/benefit analysis, budget and schedule development, and identifying constraints.
Maintain current year CAPEX project portfolio; lead creation of following years plan; high level 3-5 year plan.
Apply Project management ‘Best Practices’
Once the project is approved:
Manage the project team
Check detailed engineering to minimize risks and maximize future results
Ensure efficient project control tools (cost, schedule, risk) are in place and optimize procurement efficiency.
Regularly report to Management
Skills and Attributes Requirements
Technical and Management skills including :
Ability to read technical drawings; understand technical Equipment specs
Mixture of Mechanical, Electrical and Civil experience.
Contractor Management
Problem solving, develop Pros/Cons based on robust technical analysis
Oral and written communication - internal/external contacts
Project Control and Reporting (EHS, Schedule and Cost)
Negotiation and arbitration
Ability to “influence without authority”
Strong team leader skills to coordinate efforts of multi-disciplinary teams to achieve common goal
Proven ability to develop and adhere to project schedule
Demonstrated success overseeing a range of projects of varying complexity
Proven capability in defining project scope
Education/Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree or equivalent; minimum 5-7 years of Project Management experience
Engineer with experience in a heavy industrial environment.
Working knowledge of major engineering disciplines.
Knowledge of major mineral physical and thermal treatment technologies and equipment
Experienced in designing clean trouble free plants, caring for details, knowledgeable in dust control, gas and water treatments
Field production experience valuable
Knowledge of the law in relation to construction, contractors and health and safety.
Successful US-based candidates must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.
