The Position

Reliability Manager

Job Summary

The Reliability Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the plant maintenance programs and projects to improve: safety, regulation compliance, production capacity, equipment availability/reliability, and reduce costs.

 This includes but is not limited to the planning of work for the Maintenance group, coordinating of breakdown repairs, as well as, development and implementation of the preventive maintenance and the yearly training programs. This should include analyzing inspection data and required repairs in order to determine the economics of replacements or repairs.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for complying with EH&S objectives, rules and regulations, this includes the Visible Felt Leadership program, safety observations & audits. 

  • Lead process enhancement initiatives in productivity which feeds operational improvements and reliability.

  • Lead maintenance activities: order parts, schedule PM’s and ensure completion, plan shutdown activities, schedule calibrations.

  • Project Management: Develop project ideas into well-defined project scopes, implement to complete on time and within budget delivering scope.

  • Develop project roadmap plans up to 5 years out.

  • Coordinate efforts with plant personnel to drive and establish best practice manufacturing improvement efforts.

  • Anticipate and respond to safety and environmental hazards to eliminate them and maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in Contractor Management to include adherence to approved costs and all site safety regulations.

  • Schedule monthly/weekly/daily maintenance activities planning for contractors and maintenance employees.

  • Develop and monitor departmental performance key indicators (KPI’s) to review with operations to put actions in place to reduce the downtime and improve reliability.

  • Work with CMMS tool for work order tracking, PM scheduling and improvements.

  • Participate in the maintenance improvement initiatives identified through failure root causes analysis and/or compliance, growth or cost reduction requirements.

  • Assist production personnel with identifying system/equipment issues and solutions (trouble-shooting).

  • Develop, implement and provide mentoring for World Class Asset Management techniques, including implementation of documented work management practices.

  • Participate in the process of benchmarking successful Maintenance organizations and processes.

  • Liaison with purchasing to identify and negotiate purchase of needed components, equipment and contract services.

  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance related problems.

  • Manage and optimize maintenance spending per month/quarter/year.

  • Ensure all department objectives are completed on time and within budget.

  • Ensure parts and appropriate tools are available to perform maintenance work.

  • Lead the maintenance training program to leverage the skills maturity and cross functionality.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.



  • Successful US-based candidates must be fully Covid-19 vaccinated before the employment start date unless exempted by applicable law.

  • Electrical experience in an Industrial environment, preferred

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or Engineering preferred

  • Five (5+) years of experience supervising/managing industrial maintenance is preferred

  • Proven maintenance leader with demonstrated experience leading & developing teams 

  • Demonstrated ability to identify maintenance constraints (manufacturing process, budget, schedule, etc.) and either eliminate the constraints or manage within

  • Knowledge of PLC’s, SCADA systems and instrumentation

  • Experience managing maintenance programs via a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills

  • Knowledge of plant production processes.

  • Knowledge of mechanical maintenance processes including preventive/predictive maintenance procedure with understanding of process control concepts and broad range of equipment types (spray dryers, blowers, conveyors, dust collectors, packaging equipment, etc.)

  • Understanding of mass balances and flow sheets

  • Internal customer focused and proven team member.

  • Ability to work independently and with various levels of personnel.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement preferred



  • Plant environment with exposure to varying temperature/humidity and chemicals and process equipment:  Office environment–sitting, desk work - 60%; process environment - standing, walking, observing, trouble-shooting – 40%.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. - Infrequent

  • Communicating  - verbally/written required – Listening

  • Duration of work week – typically Mon-Fri; plant and process support to 24/7 operation and must be available for on-call coverage during off hours/weekends/holidays

  • Travel – infrequently

  • Valid driver license required
