The Position

Junior Hydro-metallurgical Engineer

Job Summary

EMILI Project
EMILI Project consists of developing a Lithium Mine, a Beneficiation Plant and a
Hydrometallurgical Plant to produce Lithium Hydroxide. The project is located in
France. The position is based in Paris.
Background information :
● Green field Project
● Deposit is located in France. Li-bearing mica in granite. Resources
demonstrated with drilling campaigns
● The project consists in concentrating the ore into a concentrate
(“concentration”) and in refining the concentrate into lithium hydroxide (“refining”).
● A new metallurgical process is required to extract lithium from a lepidolite
bearing granite and is under development with external laboratories and engineering
● The mineral process will be based generic mineral process steps such a
crushing, grinding, froth flotation, gravity separation, magnetic separation, thickening,
● The hydrometallurgical process will consist of a calcination and leaching
process, followed by a purification and a crystallization process

Job description
The job description for the position occupied by Junior Metallurgical Engineer is
the following:
● Participating in processing plant design and optimization;
● Developing process test plans and defining pilot test program;
● Monitoring process laboratory test work, bench scale, including data analysis
and reporting;
● Supervising / taking part in piloting operations, including data analysis and
● Evaluating performances of calcination, leaching, extracting and crystallization
● Providing technical input to develop complete flow sheet from mica contract to
Lithium hydroxide monohydrate at designed production capacity;
● Providing metallurgical engineering support: developing mass, water and heat
balances, block diagrams, flow sheet; drafting or revising Process Design Criteria and
Process Philosophy; drafting or reviewing PFDs and PIDs, process equipment data
sheets, …

Authority and Relations
● Reporting to the Process Development Director
● Links with R&D laboratories Process Engineers and Project Discipline Engineers

● Based in Paris, with frequent travels in both Europe and/or North America
● Engineering degree in Metallurgy, possibly with a PhD
● Experience of 3 years as process engineer in mineral chemical plant design or
● Safety driven when developing a mineral process
● Eager to develop his abilities in process discipline activities: development of
mass and heat balances, flow sheet, process design criteria, process philosophy;
● Knowledge of metallurgical processes: calcination, leaching, extraction and
● English for oral, read, and written communication. French would be an
● Knowledge of process software (Aspen, Metsim, Syscad or equivalent) would be
a plus.
