The main role is to provide support to the Microscopy Area Supervisor in carrying out analytical approved test methods and reporting results to customers using instruments such as SEM, DSC, STA and optical microscope. Undertaking innovation, production, technical & regulatory (possibly with minerals containing some asbestos) based work.
The Microscopy Analytical Technician works across, and supports, other disciplines within the Par Moor Centre Science & Technology teams, whilst working within the guidelines laid down within the Quality Management system in order to deliver the required performance to support the Company’s requirements and assure accuracy, validity and the timely reporting of test results.
Maintaining the health, safety and environmental standards on site, for yourself and others around you.
Key responsibilities include:
● To perform test measurements, at laboratory scale, following approved test methods and good lab practices signed off by the Laboratory Manager
● To contribute to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and other laboratory, accreditation of the Analytical Section
● May be expected to devise and perform experiments at laboratory scale following a programme set by the Laboratory Manager
● Contributing to the safe operation of the team by following the agreed health & safety guidelines
● Managing your own workload and collaborating with colleagues to maintain steady turnaround times for requested work
● Contributing to the documentation of new Analytical test methods
● Participating in internal discussions relating to specific technical issues, when required
This is a full time permanent position working on mostly day shifts and some late shifts: The early shift is from 7am-3pm or 8am-4pm and the late shift is from 1pm to 9pm or 2pm to 10pm.

● Have a good level of education (5 GCSEs, NVQ Level 3 or A level) in a relevant subject
● Be able to work safely within a Laboratory environment
● Have good IT and communication skills
● Be hardworking, conscious of deadlines, pay attention to detail and have an enquiring mind including possessing basic problem solving and decision making abilities
● The willingness to work flexible working hours if needed
