The PositionSenior Mining and Resources Planning Manager
We are looking for a self-driven geoscience professional willing to further develop his/her career in mining and industrial minerals. He/She will need a solid background in mining and geology and display excellent communication skills.
The purpose of the Role is to set and monitor standards, facilitate improvement and support the business in areas of Mining, Resource Estimation and Mine Planning. In this role you will work supporting various IMERYS PM EMEA sites on the geological and mine planning with direct responsibilities for some of them.
European site of IMERYS EMEA.
Up to 50% with potentially extended site based projects as needed
Roles & Responsabilities:
As Sr Mining and Resources Planning Manager you will be a leader demonstrating leadership in Health & Safety through all your interactions.
Your primary focus will be technical projects, that could include (not limited to):
Field work – geological mapping, drilling, core logging, sampling, laboratory work
Geological interpretation, modelling and estimation – data analysis, 3D modelling, block modelling and estimation
Develop and demonstrate expertise and knowledge required as CP for Resource and/or Reserve reporting. (Technical report, PERC code knowledge)
Mine production support – mapping, grade control sampling, data analysis, Reconciliation, mining Budget preparation, CER writing
Mine Planning – The Geology and mining Engineer will deliver mining and mine planning elements of projects, such as pit design, waste dump design, mine scheduling, cashflow modelling, equipment studies etc.
Assist in preparation of budgets and stripping planning / capital requests / Heavy mobile equipment
Support evaluation of deposit and mineral properties, acquisitions, due diligence and exploration/greenfield project
In this role you will be responsible for the management of these projects, which at times may include the management and supervision of other team members.
To deliver on these projects, you will need to develop familiarity with Imerys’ policies, protocols and best practices.
Degree in a Geological Science with a strong mining related component; BS degree - preferably in engineering, mining, or geological engineering
10 years experience as a geology professional in a mining, preferable industrial minerals, context. Experience and exposure should address all elements of mining related geoscience – exploration, modelling, estimation, production, reconciliation etc. Geotechnical and mine planning experience is also desirable.
In-depth resource estimation experience is desirable
Development of Mine plan
Operational experience is a plus
Practical knowledge of geological and mining principles, theories, concepts & techniques
Proficiency and flexibility with geological modelling, mine planning and GIS software (leapfrog, surpac, Xpac ..), survey software and geostatistics is a plus
Knowledge of the PERC norm and technical reporting
Fluent in English
Good communication skills – both technical and non-technical
Adaptable and organised
Analytical, rigorous and systematic approach to problem solving
Good interpersonal skills
Autonomous but also able work well in a team environment
Communication skills – especially to non-technical audiences
Demonstrated self-starter who is self-motivated
