The Position

Strategy & Marketing Manager, Lithium Projects H/F

Job Summary

Reporting to the Business Development Director, the Strategy & Marketing Manager ensures the marketing activities for our lithium projects, namely by analysing customer needs along the value chain, benchmark Imerys projects with existing and emerging lithium projects, identifying and exploring opportunities. The Marketing Manager will be also responsible for taking some specific Business Development projects

The goal is to contribute to the successful commercial and business 


  • Market intelligence 

  • Strategic Analysis

  • Competitive benchmarking

  • Contributing to strategic initiatives & projects, including building the Business Cases for new solutions development and for some Business Development projects when needed


Market Intelligence & Competitive benchmarking 

  • Recognize and raise weak signals from the market that could impact the business’ activity, namely by monitoring our markets and underlying market trends, participating in market events, customers meeting

  • Competition Monitoring: 

    • Develop and structure competition intelligence liaising with sales, tech support and product managers

    • Build comprehensive competitors profiles looking at their strategy, investments, geographic footprint, production capabilities, product portfolio, strengths and weaknesses

    • Ensure a good visibility on the performance and value proposition on key competitors regionally and globally, more specifically having a look at their ESG credentials and roadmap

  • Customers Monitoring

    • Develop and structure customer intelligence looking at their strategy, investments/divestments, product mix & formulation changes liaising with sales teams and tech support

  • Network -participate to the Project objective to sustain contacts with key value chain stakeholders: other raw material producers, trade associations, equipment manufacturers, end-customers 

Strategic Analysis & Initiatives 

  • Strategic analysis on projects,  in collaboration with internal experts : industrial footprint, ESG impact, , supply chain and security of supply analysis,  mapping of existing actors and potential targets for collaboration 

    • Source, analyze, challenge  information inside and outside our organization, classify and provide recommendation 

    • Develop Internal consensus and buy-in on topics

    • Prepare executive level presentation for decision making 

  • Support or lead the deployment of some initiative after the strategic analysis phase.


 MBA or Master Degree in Business / Marketing, or Engineer with Marketing/Business specialization, with minimum of 4-7 years of equivalent work-related experience in BtoB marketing, business development or strategy preferably in sector like raw materials sourcing, automotive.  

  • Strong business sense and ability to interact effectively with people from all backgrounds and levels

  • Ability to positively influence and challenge others w/o direct reporting lines (Sales, Product management, en gineering teams)

  • Ability to develop deep market and technical understanding of application (customers needs, production process, market structure, performance)

  • Collaborative style

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking and a high degree of business acumen

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Project management skills for scoping, developing and operational implementation of projects.

  • Ability to craft and present compelling Business cases and Analyses  supporting key developments.

  • English: fluent (international environnement) and fluency in French would be a plus
