Packing and Despatch Operative
A vacancy has arisen for a Packing and Despatch Operative has responsibility for operating the packing plant, loading lorries/containers, filling big bags and cleaning as and when required.
The normal minimum hours of work 37.5 hours a week.
Possible work patterns (this list is not exhaustive):
06.00 -14.15, 09.45 - 18.00, 08.00 - 16.15, 13.45 – 22.00, 21:45 – 06:00 (a premium will be paid for night shifts)
Key tasks and responsibilities are to:
Operation of big bagging and associated equipment
Movement of goods and skips by FLT or using other plant equipment Inspection and defect reporting on equipment
Specific knowledge of safety procedures: Statutory Health and Safety as well as the Company Health and Safety Documents
Conducts safety checks to ensure compliance by others working on site in the wearing of PPE and the adherence to safety procedures. (Imerys employees and contractors). To maintain the necessary records for noting operational, quality, safety and environmental information as required
Knowledge of relevant Internal Product Specification sheets; understanding of quality tests and implications of process actions on quality
Responsible for collecting samples for the lab and in some cases performing tests. As the plant develops and progresses, different test methods may be required, and this list is therefore not exhaustive. Periods of higher risk of bad quality may necessitate different tests or higher frequencies.
Restacking reject pallets. Keeps record of where recycled to, quantity, rate of recycling, quality checks
Removal of FGS pallets from the palletiser and placing them in stock in the required area. Keeping all spreadsheets up to date
Ensuring the palletiser does not run out of pallets or hoods with which to pack product onto
Housekeeping, cleanliness, tidiness. Maintains a clean safe work area. Out on plant, cleans where necessary and notifies supervisor if cannot be done personally
Will actively participate in their own training and development, and in the training and development of others
Responsibility to manage those people occasionally working under their supervision Must maintain a concise log of production completed
Must report any safety issues immediately and record near misses Must record any data as requested by the business for continuous improvement Operation of big bagging and associated equipment
Bulk loading of lorries
Loading of containers
Behavioural safety audits & risk assessments Operating Packing Plant (if trained) Operating Mixing Plant (if trained)
Operating Packing Plant (if trained)
Fire Marshal duties (if trained)
Maintenance of plant (where qualifications allow)

Ability to work autonomously
Fork lift driving licence
Warehouse experience
Manufacturing/Process experience preferred
Electrical and Mechanical qualification or experience preferred
