The Position
Sustainability Manager-PMA North AmericaJob Summary
Position Title: Sustainability Manager, PMA-North America
Location:Home-based near a major US airport, Atlanta preferred
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the EHS & Sustainability Director and in collaboration with other functions, the Sustainability Manager is responsible for the coordination of PMA-North America Sustainability & Environmental Innovation programs.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Coordinate sustainability topics for PMA-North America
Consolidation of progress on PMA-North America’s specific objectives (dashboard)
Support communication and training roll-out related to sustainability themes within the PMA-North America
Coordinate support with Communications Team for PMA-North America regarding the annual corporate grass-roots sustainability competition
Stakeholder mapping and community relations - to align community giving, sponsorships and outreach with Group procedures and to local stakeholder expectations and operational context
Lead innovative Environmental project scoping, trial, and project implementation
Management of customer Sustainability related requests, support to market teams with customer meetings to leverage sustainability performance
Coordination with Purchasing as required for Sustainability related supplier audits or direct coordination of customer requested Sustainability related audits of Imerys sites
Maintain strong link with corporate and other PMA teams for all of the above to ensure consistent approach across Group (participate to monthly Corporate Extended Sustainability team meeting)
Partner internally and externally to develop a Sustainability education program and effectively communicate purpose, scope, and timing.
Partner with Communications Team on internal EHS&S-related communications
Engage with internal and external stakeholders regarding Sustainability
Skills and Attributes Requirements:
Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS laws, statutes, and regulations.
Excels at the development of clear, concise, and effective policies, standards, and procedures.
Demonstrated experience with the implementation and sustainment of Sustainability programs
Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing environment and experience in a matrix organization
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage parallel projects with multiple moving pieces independently or with a team
Excellent people skills and ability to align people and resources toward organizational success.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
Experience in interacting with and influencing all levels of Management
Experience in identifying clear objectives and delivering a learning program that achieves clear business outcomes measures against those objectives
Self-starter with a drive to continuously improve
Balance of humility and self-confidence
Proficient in the use of Google Workplace or Microsoft Office
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Sustainability, ESG, Environmental, Communications, or related area).
Minimum Experience: +10 years of Sustainability or Environmental experience
Professional Licenses: EHS certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are beneficial but not required. Relevant external certifications, e.g. ISO14001, ISO50001, etc.
1. 60% Office Environment / Home-Based
2. 40% Travel to other IMERYS locations, consultant/vendor locations, and professional meetings. Variable field activities in Plant and Mining operations involve information and data collection and collaboration with the operation at all levels. Physical activities may involve climbing stairs or ladders, hiking, working near chemicals, water bodies, and hot equipment.
