The Position

Project Description:
The site’s current process for managing production, maintenance, and engineering supplies relies heavily upon manually created physical records, e.g. withdrawal tickets, packing slips, etc., and is prone to failures arising from numerous reasons. Additionally, even when materials are on hand, they can be lost or misplaced, causing inefficiencies.
The intern working on this project will be charged with implementing new processes and systems to track various MRO supplies, both in the Supply House and around the site in general, with the aim being to improve the management of these materials and improving the efficiency of the operation.
Potential objectives could include:
Digitizing the withdrawal ticket process
Reducing the number of emergency/rush orders due to materials not being on hand
Implementing systems to ID and track spares and other materials on site
Identification of further opportunities to improve MRO management by leveraging technology
Project Learning Objectives:
Develop an understanding of manufacturing and maintenance processes and how MRO materials impact them
Develop an understanding of industrial manufacturing environments and how technology and modernization can create efficiencies therein
Develop interpersonal skills working with shop floor and management personnel
