The Position

Business Development Manager - Lithium

Job Summary

As the lithium business development manager, for your perimeter, your role is to:

  • Take charge of the management of customers and prospects of the customer portfolio for which you are responsible

  • Drive business & market development within the defined perimeter along the full value chain, including supporting the definition of the specification of the products and their homologation

  • Define and drive  the  commercial strategy for your perimeter 

  • Secure customer commitment and commercial conditions during the ramp up of the project

  • Participate to the definition of the product specifications 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Hygiene Safety Environment missions: Ensure compliance with safety rules, educate teams on preventive measures to achieve our safety objectives

 

Define Commercial strategy

  • Identify actors along the value chain of the products, including the key decision maker

  • Establish and nurture relationship with assigned customers (management, purchasing, R&D)

  • Identify sales development / partnership targets, elaborate and implement appropriate development strategy 

  • Propose customer classification and priority targets for future development 

 

Secure Customers commitment along the value chain

 
  • Execute the commercial roadmaps defined above. 

  • More specifically securing the long term commitment of customer on key commercial terms (price, volume, quality payment terms) . Contribute directly to the wording of key commercial documents (MOU, offtakes).

  • Prepare and negotiate the contractual relationship at different levels of maturity during the project to support the commercial roadmap. Lead the definition and fine tuning of the pricing mechanism(s) used by Imerys and how it is linked with Lithium market index(es).

  • Prepare and lead the regular (year, semester…) negotiation rounds to pass through various inflation / variation on cost drivers (energy, transportation…)

  • Organize along the value chain (OEM, battery & CAM makers) the proper level of information sharing

  • Focus on the battery market but also on markets for technical grades in order to find outlets for off-spec or downgraded products, during ramp up phase and afterwards

 

Participate to the definition of the product specifications 

  • Develop and nurture the relationship between Imerys team and the technical team of the target accounts

  • Participate to the synthesis and definition of a 360 view of the target specification for the products (including technical aspect, quality, quality systems, logistics..)

 

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experienced as a sales person or key account manager

  • Proven track record in management of large accounts, related to complex sales with long cycles

  • Pricing/ Negotiation skills with knowledge of contract management. 

  • Knowledge of the battery market, automotive sectors would be a plus. 

  • Experience in other technical market (aerospace, life sciences) or raw material high value commodities is welcome  

  • English: fluent (international environment) and fluency in French would be a plus

  • Business acumen and Technical appetite
