The Position

South America Finance Director

Job Summary

On March 28, 2024, Imerys Group (www.imerys.com) published a press release announcing it has entered into exclusive negotiations with Flacks Group  for the contemplated divestment of its assets producing kaolin, ground calcium carbonate (“GCC”), precipitated calcium carbonate (“PCC”), and talc, which primarily serve the paper markets in North Americas, South America, Asia and Europe.

The future company formed by all these industrial sites, kaolin mine, port and logistic hubs is foreseen to start its operation under a new brand in the course of 2024. It will offer mineral solutions for industries worldwide. Currently serving mostly the paper and board markets , the new company will use its global footprint, unique assets and longstanding know-how to develop new business opportunities and foster innovation. Sustainability is a core value of this company.

With an annual revenue of around 350 million euros in 2023, this activity will employ about 1000 employees. The Company needs to reinforce the existing teams to operate as a standalone organization but also to meet its ambitious development plans.

Role overview:

  • Ensure fiscal and accounting integrity and documentation based on local GAAP and IFRS
  • Supervise month-end close and manage interactions with BA Controlling and SSC when applicable
  • Ensure all financial reporting for his/her perimeter / organization
  • Ensure quality of Internal Control of financial processe


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supervise month-end closing activities
  • Check accuracy of deliverables within his/her scope within allocated time
  • Validate provisions and accruals
  • Responsible for statutory filings
  • Reconcile statutory and management books
  • Supervise tax filing and tax returns
  • Monitor Regulatory changes of accounting and taxes
  • Responsible for local annual audit
  • Solve internal audit points related to finance
  • Ensure management procedures are put into practice
  • Identify problem areas in the processes and work with team to generate solutions
  • Drive and supervise the implementation of new solutions
  • Set priorities, alert management of any identified risk


Qualifications & Experience

  • 10 years experience in a leading finance position as a Senior Accountant with an experience in managing and developing a Finance / accountant team
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is the minimum requested but profile who also has earned a master’s degree in accounting / finance or certification such as certified public accountant (CPA) or certified management accountant (CMA) are preferred and further finance qualifications such as ACA, ACCA/FCCA.


Skills & Person Specification

  • Deep knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), practices, standards, laws and regulations, tax computations
  • Design and implementation of process improvements and controls.
  • Ability to handle complex financial information and financial risk
  • Ability to create a strong bonds with other people, inspires trust and confidence in both his peers, senior, and external partners
  • Demonstrate good communication skills to convey information and instructions down the line,.
  • Have a keen eye for details, ability to manage multi tasks / project and meet tight deadlines, is analytical and highly organized
  • Work comfortably in a highly collaborative setting, have a confident and outgoing personality,
  • Proficient in English
  • Proficient in financial software as SAP, database and Google suite package
