Logistics Specialist (Shipping)Job Summary
SUMMARY
The Antwerp port is considered as a key location for Imerys EMEA and serves as a logistic platform designed to handle large volumes of different kind of minerals arriving from overseas origins and destined for European customers or production sites. The established facility handles massive tons of minerals in dry or liquid form and uses transport solutions of all possible logistics modalities. The team is responsible for the operational coordination of all activities within Imerys PM EMEA and other divisions logistics activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational management
Operational management and coordination of assigned logistics categories / logistics modes and related activities for the Imerys EMEA minerals. Possible logistics categories include Short Sea Freight, Barging, Stevedoring, Storage, Inspection, Road Haulage, Rail Transportation, etc.
Be the single person responsible for coordination and execution of Sea Freight related handling activities like discharge and loading rotations, board-board transshipping, optimizing handling activities, administrative processes, documentation etc.
Assist the Purchasing Function in negotiations with carriers or other suppliers
Closely liaise and communicate with internal stakeholders and departments (Purchasing, Customer Service, Logistics,S&OP, Sales,...) to fully understand requirements and constraints
Operational and administrative stock management
Financial and performance administration, documentation management, insurance and damage claims
Set-up, maintain and improve system database to manage effectively carrier relationships, performance, contractual and volume commitments, rates and service levels
Animate in regular reviews with transport suppliers
In conjunction with the Shipping Purchasing Manager manage and negotiate spot market vessels for different lanes
Assist the Purchasing Function in Purchasing activities on other areas (road, rail, wagon rental )
Continuous improvement management
Evaluate success and failures to improve business efficiency and secure continuous contribution to the quality and financial performance of the company
Proposes to the Logistics Manager the improvement priorities of his sector: definition and implementation of action plans in accordance with the manager
Sets up and implement the continuous improvement tools
Participation in ad hoc projects & analysis according to business needs
Contribute to the Imerys GHG Emission Reduction programs by being the interface between the suppliers and the Imerys objectives for reduction.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Is accountable for the OTIF (On Time In Full) and customer satisfaction
Is accountable for the claims KPIs
Responsible for maintaining a safe personal environment and acting safely at all times.
Fully supports the location health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs by participating in their implementation, maintenance, enforcement and compliance with company’s programs

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE
Key competencies
Able to express in Dutch/English. German/French is a strong plus
Knowledge of Short Sea Freight, Barging, Stevedoring, Storage, Inspection, Road Haulage, Rail Transportation, custom clearance laws, etc.
Tools: knowledge of SAP and Google suite is a plus
Able to manage/control the techniques of inventory and handling management
Strong customer orientation and business sense
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customer services, warehouse workforce and Imerys suppliers. Proactive and efficient communicant with our internal / external stakeholders
Highly quality and financial performance oriented with a drive to deliver outstanding performance
