The Position

Global category manager IT/Telecom

Job Summary

Context/Background

Managing more than 400M€ spend, the Indirect Purchasing Direction is composed of 8 people:

  • Indirect Purchasing Director in France

  • 3 global Category Managers in France

  • 1 European travel manager in Greece

  • 1 regional Category Manager in the US

  • 2 buyers in India

 The Indirect Purchasing Direction aims at:

  • Supporting its internal stakeholders

  • Conducting strategic sourcing activities (RFI, RFP,...)

  • Implementing Master Agreements with key suppliers

  • Conducting Category Management activities (suppliers monitoring, …)

  • Demonstrating its expertise in tackling greenfields

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

 

The IT/Telecom global category manager  is the main point of contact for Imerys IT function.

As Imerys IT function is centralised, all internal stakeholders' needs  are submitted to IT directors approval.  IT/Telecom global category manager is managing the end to end purchasing process for all the projects.

Commodities managed are :software;hardware;IT services;I.O.T;telecom (services and devices).

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Manage RFX corresponding to IT roadmap/business needs (+30 RFP's/year)

  • Manage contracts renewals; renegotiation

  • Identify,propose, implement TCO actions

  • Work close to the regions (EMEA/NORAM/LATAM/APAC) to define and implement regional strategies with the support of regional purchasing managers.

  • Ensure suppliers follow-up through business reviews

  • Contribute to Imerys sustainability targets ; generate ideas around sustainability

  • Functional management of IT buyer located in India

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

●      Work in close collaboration with IT function as primary internal stakeholder

●      End to end purchasing process management and optimization

●      Report purchasing performance (savings)

  • Effectively influences, collaborates, and partners with business leaders regions to drive results

  • Animation of the Purchasing community at regional  level on the IT/telecom  initiatives, with ongoing project reviews and communication on latest releases (Tools, contracts, etc…)

  • Develop and animate  internal training sessions to get local purchasers autonomous on IT/Telecom subjects

●      Supportive of purchasing digitalization (E-procurement)

  •  Support current carve-out activities (contracts transfer)

PROFILE

  • Minimum 4 to 6  years’ experience in purchasing

  • IT/telecom purchasing background mandatory

  • French/English : Fluent

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strategic vision

  • Good communication; diplomat
