The Position

Energy Project Engineer (Business Area: Performance Minerals EMEA)

Job Summary

Role

PM EMEA Business Area: 80 sites in 24 countries - 3700 employees - €1.2b revenue - Energy costs ca. 240 m€ in 2022. Context: Imerys is committed in meeting the 1.5°C carbon emission reduction trajectory by 2030.

  • Member of the energy assessment team

  • Energy & carbon emissions data control and analysis

  • Contribution to significant energy/carbon emission reduction projects

Responsibilities

  • Active member of the BA team for the Group energy assessment program. This program aims at identifying and prioritizing improvement actions, and encompasses sourcing, purchasing, process efficiency. Within the team, the energy analyst is responsible for the utilities, maintenance and systems optimization.

  • Responsible for the BA energy & emissions data management through the reporting system (Enablon). Help the energy manager establish the quarterly energy and emissions report, and energy consumption forecast allowing energy hedging and risk management.

  • Design and implement new energy and emissions dashboards. Train and support the users to set up and analyze their energy dashboards and KPIs to allow decision making.

  • Help and support the establishment of the BA carbon emission reduction roadmap to comply with new Group objectives (1.5°C reduction trajectory by 2030), by simulating different scenarios based on identified levers (energy efficiency, fuel switching, electrification of processes,, etc).

  • Provide support to important energy related projects to ensure successful implementation (Renewable energy program, fuel switching and heat recovery projects).

  • Key interfaces: BA CoE, Group Energy Assessment team, BA operations.

  • Emission reduction as per Group trajectory target

  • Energy & Carbon emissions data management (reports, dashboards, analyses)

  • Reporting to : BA Energy Manager within the Center of Excellence team

  • Location: any Imerys location in Europe

  • Travels: up to 40% in Europe for energy assessments

Competencies and experience

  • Key competencies

    • Engineering/Science/Energy background

    • Strong interest in energy systems & climate change topics

    • Analytical skills and ability to summarize

    • Strong skills in Google sheets / Excel including advanced formulas and graphic functions, knowledge in Google data studio will be an advantage

    • Continuous Improvement mindset

  • Ideal background/ experience

    • Engineer or equivalent

    • 0-5 years of experience

  • Typical profile

    • Energy engineer, Process engineer, Electrical engineer

    • Plant engineer wishing to evolve to a central role
