Industrial Continiuous Improvement Champion (Hub Central Europe)Job Summary
As Industrial Continuous Improvement (CI) Champion your role will be to support the Imerys Industrial Improvement Program (I-Cube) across Imerys Performance Minerals mines and mineral processing operations in the Hub Central Europe (Austria, Germany, Belgium).
By empowering and enabling people, you are expected to demonstrate a strong visible leadership to make your perimeter more competitive, safer, more customer oriented and unified. You will promote best industrial rituals and operational discipline to deliver sustainable visible changes on the field.
This is a feeder role for our future top operations managers. After a successful period in this position we expect you to grow into Operations roles.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Champion is a key position of industrial change management deployment and supports - together with Hub team - the Operation and Site Managers in the Hub in the following tasks:
Coordinates cross-functional teams to define and execute continuous improvement programs in order to improve cost competitiveness and efficiency of processes, practices and organizations
Deploys, supports and sustains the Imerys Industrial Improvement program (I-Cube) program within the processing plants and mines of the Hub by optimizing the operations and by generating margin improvement
Promotes implementation of industrial basics like: Gemba walk, Rituals of Management, 5S.
Cultivates and promotes a strong continuous improvement culture by establishing detailed continuous improvement initiatives to generate savings vs. budget with the cooperation of the Site managers.
Monitors progress of continuous improvement projects and related savings, including process management improvement, process modification, and energy optimization by implementing, promoting and tracking the Saving Roadmap, OEE and all industrial KPIs and routines
Project Management: Follow-up on agreed-to projects to monitor the progress of planned improvements and to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits
Maintains and creates appropriate documentation for reports, project execution, and data analysis.
Lead site CI Assessments and regular updates of site CI roadmap in support of global CI roadmap.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Mining, Process, Material or Chemical Engineering
Professional Experience:
Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in Project Management, Operations Management or Operational Excellence Program Management
Entry level position for talents with a keen interest in CI and efficiency improvements
Language: fluent in both German and English (written and oral)
Good CI culture and able to learn very fast lean manufacturing methods (e.g. project management, Kaizen, 6-sigma, value stream mapping, working capital optimization)
Green belt is a plus
Strong analytical and problem solver skills
Able to quickly develop technical / process expertise
Ability to positively influence teams in a matrix organization
Ability to travel 40% of the time
