POSITION TITLE: Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist-California

As our Health & Safety Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of everyone at our California Minerals Processing Sites in Lompoc and Escondido. This position involves administering Health & Safety programs, conducting investigations, overseeing testing, and supporting safety committees. LOCATION: Position Based in Lompoc, CA
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer a wide range of Health & Safety compliance and training programs at both MSHA and OSHA facilities.
Conduct accident investigations and assist site leadership with incident management
Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents to assess high risk areas
Conduct/direct industrial hygiene testing and analysis of workplace chemical and physical hazards and recommend controls that will reduce potential exposures.
Conduct Health & Safety regular audits/inspections of facilities and support corrective actions.
Coordinate/participate in all MSHA & Cal-OSHA compliance inspections.
Lead and participate in internal site audits and inspections and support tracking and implementation of corrective actions.
Actively participate in both Site’s Safety Committees.
Develop, Implement, and maintain all aspects of the Imerys Safety System and the associated protocols.
Support the development, planning, delivery and review of Health & Safety training.
Administers workers compensation process, filing claims, status updates, etc.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
2+ years Relevant EHS Experience in Mining and/or Heavy Industry preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related area) or minimum 4 years’ appropriate experience in lieu of degree.
Working knowledge of Federal and State H&S regulations.
Working knowledge of H&OP, HPI or Safety II is a plus
EHS certifications (CSP, ASP, CIH, CIT, CMSP, etc…) are beneficial but not required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Union Experience is beneficial.
Approximately 15% travel
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $120,000
