The Position

Product Manager

Job Summary

As the Product Manager, you will own, drive, and evolve the product line strategy to maximize profitability of the mineral globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the asset operations & capabilities, circuits, and constraints.  

  • Clear knowledge of product marketplace; be able to collaborate effectively with sales & marketing to know the customers & competition and the product strengths and weaknesses, and use this information to define and animate the asset strategy.

  • Understand cost structures and capacities for the market to guide decision making (raw materials, cost drivers, make vs buy)

  • Responsible for the optimization and management of product mix and pricing for asset efficiency and maximum value/margin extraction

  • Responsible for proactive management of the product portfolio for these minerals in order to deliver the profitability goals of the business

  • Drives opportunity assessment, prioritization and business case investment justification, including partnering with purchasing, manufacturing, working with technology leads on asset strategy/investments enabling growth/expansions/optimization

  • Benchmarks competitors’ portfolio offerings and global reach to understand their strategies and cost structures.

  • Develops strong relationships and actively participates in S&OP process. Secure area-specific supply/demand balance. Understand challenges, determine where reductions or upsides globally need to take place by working with regional counterparts to balance globally.

  • Leads the information collection and direction setting on market fundamentals, pricing tactics, supply/demand, etc. regularly to set direction and gain alignment with the commercial organization.

  • Ensures efficient sharing of information between Operations and Segments within the region and globally on critical issues for product growth and profitability: new product development, Capex, Quality, Regulatory

  • Key interfaces: strong partnership to be built with (i) Segments leadership, (ii) Innovation, (iii) Supply Chain, (iii) Operations; (iv) Purchasing; (v) Finance

Background and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Finance, Business, or Engineering Degree preferred

  • Minimum 8 years experience working in a strategic, product management, finance, or operations-related function in a cross-functional environment

  • Strong business & financial acumen

  • Operations and/or finance experience preferred

  • Able to operate strategically and tactically depending on the need

  • Executive-level communication & presentation skills

  • Proven ability to influence in a matrix environment
