The Position

Process Engineer

Job Summary

Process Engineer

Job Purpose: We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to develop, engineer, and analyze process systems and technology to improve efficiencies in existing and new processes in our Sylacauga, AL facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quantify and communicate process technology to various departments

  • Troubleshoot production issues

  • Supervise and perform plant trials

  • Participate in commissioning process technologies

  • Contribute to internal and customer process improvement teams

  • Conduct engineering feasibility studies and economic analyses

  • Develop solutions to improve profitability of processing units

  • Assist in equipment selection, material estimation, and project costing

  • Drive plant productivity using Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methods

  • Focus on debottlenecking, yield improvements, and product quality enhancements

  • Prepare financial analyses of process improvements

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering

  • Minimum of 3years of engineering experience

  • Project management experience

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and techniques

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

  • Proficiency in multitasking and prioritizing

  • Advanced math and analytical skills

  • Knowledge of statistical analytical techniques

  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in laboratory and production areas

  • Standing and walking up to 60% of work time

  • Sitting up to 40% of work time

  • Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds (25% of work time)

  • Climbing stairs and working at heights (10% of work time)

  • Finger dexterity required
