Job Summary

POSITION TITLE: Health & Safety Specialist

LOCATION: Sylacauga, AL

JOB  SUMMARY:

The position supports development, implementation and administration of H&S compliance programs, regulatory analysis, compliance with the applicable Code of Federal Regulations, licenses, audits, industrial hygiene workplace sampling and other aspects of H&S management

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Annual Industrial Hygiene Monitoring & Reports

  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene Sampling, Reporting

  • Regulatory Inspections, Reporting, and Record Keeping

  • Regulatory Training Oversight, Delivery, and Implementation (New Hire and Annual Training)

  • Site Compliance with applicable Imerys Health & Safety Protocols (includes program development, training, and implementation)

  • Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • Facilitate Learning Teams

  • Enablon Management (creation of users, reporting, data entry, etc.)

  • EHS, MSR, SCIT, and Action Plan Follow-Up and CAP Completion

  • Coordination with site H&S Champion (training, development, assistance with protocol implementation)

  • Workers Compensation (submit claims and work with adjuster)

  • Directs the work of the EHS Technician when applicable

  • Emergency Response / Manage First Aid / CPR Teams

  • Conduct at least 2 site compliance and improvement visits / year / site; with other travel as required

  • Build Strong relationships with site management to ensure

  • Responsibility for all aspects of the Imerys Health & Safety System are established

  • Other duties as assigned
     


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate technical discipline (such as Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related area)

  • Minimum 2  years Relevant EHS Experience in Mining and/or Heavy Industry

  • Working knowledge of Federal and State EHS regulations

  • EHS certifications (CIH, CSP, CMSP & CHMM, CHST, OHST, SMS) are beneficial but not required

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Union Experience is beneficial
