Ensuring the health and safety of workers is vital when you work with minerals and operate in over 50 countries, as we do. We are developing a proactive health and safety culture across all levels of our business and our value chain. While we have made good progress since 2008, we will continuously improve our performance with the ultimate aim of achieving an incident-free workplace.
Local laws and regulations are supplemented by our own policies, protocols and procedures including regular training for staff and comprehensive HS audits. All our operations have an Imerys Safety System in place and we use continuous improvement approach to help create a Group Safety Culture. We also follow a Behavior-Based Safety process of personal responsibility under the slogan “Safety starts with me” and have a comprehensive range of occupational health programs, with particular emphasis on managing airborne contaminants, vibration and noise.
Imerys seeks to create an environment that identifies, attracts and retains talented people, allowing them to develop through varied and fulfilling careers across the company.
We respect internationally-recognized human rights and labor practices as set out in our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, which spells out our commitments to ethical behaviour, in areas including human rights, non-discrimination, child and forced labor and collective bargaining.
Talent and skill management is essential to maintain an innovative, engaged and motivated workforce and to ensure our long-term growth. Our Talent Road Map helps us to develop our human capital, provide lifelong learning and career development across the group. We support the career development of young talents through our Graduates Program.
We want our workforce to be more diverse and inclusive. Under the leadership of a sponsorship committee composed of the Executive Committee members, a dedicated working group has defined the Group road map to accelerate efforts to achieve this ambition.
