Scope:

• Global research and development for IMERYS Graphite & Carbon functionally organized by Product Development, R&D Process Technology, Application Development, and Analytical

• Leader of ca. 20 -30 scientists, engineers, and lab technicians in 3 laboratories (ITC Switzerland, ITC Toulouse, ITS Tokyo, Japan)

• Budget: ca. 7 mEuro

• Number of direct reports:  > 6

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Heads the BU global R&D organization and leads the research and development activities of the IMERYS Graphite & Carbon division.

• Accountable for the global development of new products and new applications following the business strategy of the division.

• Lab manager of the local R&D laboratories

• Co-leads product innovation with Sales, Marketing and Operations fostering the innovation culture within the division.

• Co-accountable for the innovation project portfolio of the BU based on the business strategy together with the General Manager of the division and for the optimization of this project portfolio.

• Accountable for new product development and application development projects related to new business opportunities, manage these NBO projects in a stage-gate business process from the idea to product launch stage resulting in new profitable business, ensure that these projects are staffed and supported appropriately to deliver in time.

• Ensures the conformity of the product development process according to the TQM norms and the documentation of the product according to the deliverables of the Product Life Cycle Management system.

• Builds budget for the R&D and monitors the R&D costs versus the approved budget.

• Represents the R&D in the division management team.

• Proactively contributes to the division's business strategy and proposes the R&D tactics and product and technology roadmap.

• Manages customer and operation support as well as the validation of products by customers and prospects.
