The Position

Purchasing Manager

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Manages all aspects of purchasing functions within the Talc business unit. Responsible for the day-to-day buying and sourcing of goods, and services for US operations. The Purchasing Manager will work with senior leadership to ensure Imerys Talc is receiving maximum value for its purchases.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES;

  • Works with internal stakeholders to develop category plans for technology, goods, and services purchased to support US operations.
  • Keeps informed of current market trends, best practices, contracting and licensing models.
  • Coordinates with internal customers regionally to review and develop requirements and assists in developing the most efficient RFP and purchasing process(es) for projects.
  • Leads supplier negotiations with support from key stakeholders to deliver best value for technical requirements, delivery schedules, cost, licensing model while taking into consideration the total cost of ownership.
  • Develops and reviews contract language and negotiates agreements
  • Manage vendor/supplier relationships and interface with key business leaders on supplier issues.
  • Follows and implements Procurement policies and procedures
  • Develops and maintains positive supplier and internal customer relationships by adhering to high standards of business ethics and fair dealing.
  • Professionally communicates with internal and external customers providing accurate and timely information. Expeditiously handles properly authorized emergency and rush procurement's.
  • Represents the Procurement department in meetings, as required. Performs other duties, consistent with the position, as required or assigned.
  • Monitor and report on purchasing’s performance compared to departmental KPIs, including but not limited to negotiated savings and requisition-to-order cycle time.
  • Monitor key contract dates and deliverable s to ensure timely renewal or initiation of competitive bid process.
  • Compile and analyze data for financial management and reporting as needed.
  • Must be knowledgeable in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.  Previous Microsoft Dynamix experience preferred
  • Occasional travel required

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree desirable
  • Project planning and management experience
  • Experience managing and mentoring procurement personnel
  • Prior experience managing diverse stakeholder interests and expectations

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics:

  • 7 years experience in a senior procurement role
  • 5 years experience in a strategic sourcing role with expertise in influencing business strategy and vendor relations
  • Superior negotiation skills, developed through significant corporate sourcing hands-on experience
  • Experience writing/generating RFx’s to suppliers and driving sourcing initiatives / complex RFx projects
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical and project management skills
  • Experience in organizational change management activities
  • Strong influencing skills that can be used to build partnerships with internal resources and external partners.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in order to liaise between the executive sponsors, colleagues, and the external supplier community.
  • High energy team player with a bias for action
  • Driven individual with analytical approach and high degree of personal organization and a strong passion to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
