The Position

Plant Manager Rheinberg

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The PCC site of Rheinberg has been acquired by Imerys in November 2015 from Solvay and is
located within an important Solvay industrial area.
The Site Manager will be responsible for the overall management of PCC Plant and Laboratory within
the various economic constraints, with emphasis on production planning and coordination with logistic
departments. He/she will also manage operations by complying with the environment, health and
safety regulations and quality certifications.
The Site manager has to operate in a context of services agreement (ex : energy, raw materials,
finance, HR, IT, etc).


JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS
To ensure the plant is operated according to the local & corporate Environment, Health and Safety
regulations and internal procedures of Imerys.
To be responsible for maximising product quality and throughput of the plant.
To set and monitor budgets and expenses annually and ensure that costs are controlled.
To fully understand and continuously improve the production processes by applying Lean
Manufacturing methods and I-Cube systems.
International travel required: 5-10%

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Ensure all health and safety functions required by local and company regulations, including
all applicable mandatory Code of Practices, risk assessment programmes, occupational
hygiene programmes and any other programmes required to ensure effective health and
safety management for the site
 Ensure that all applicable statutory requirements are met in terms of the proper operation,
running and maintenance of machinery at the plant and laboratory and as required under the
EHS rules
 Continuously adapt production and workforce to logistics requirements to ensure optimum
delivery time
 Operate plants to ensure ISO 9001:2000 specifications and objectives are continuously
achieved
 Set up and maintain processes to optimise quality, yield, throughput and availability

 Define major investment opportunities to improve yield and efficiency
 Set and monitor budgets and expenses annually and ensure that costs are controlled.
Ensure, on a daily basis, the cost control of the production operation comply with approved
cost budgets
 Responsible to report to his Manager, weekly and/or monthly :
 Weekly production technical report
 Monthly Operational report
 Quality of production grades
 Product production plans
 Staffing needs
 Ensure proper maintenance are carried out to minimize downtime and maximise working
efficiency of equipment and processes
 Lead, train, mentor, motivate and discipline when appropriate site team
 Manage suppliers to secure raw materials deliveries in quantity and quality in order to fulfil
customer need in time

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements
 Engineering degree: MSc / BEng in either industrial, mechanical, process or mining
engineering
 Good knowledge of all operations aspects (Safety, Production, Quality, Process, Capex…)
acquired during a solid hands-on experience (~10 years) within a manufacturing/industrial
environment
 Recognised managerial skills and leadership
 Decision-making and problem-solving skills
 Ability to work under pressure and with respect of deadlines
 Strong communication skills
 Multitasking
 Customer-oriented mindset
