The Position

Deputy Manager (Technical Support)

Job Summary

  • Work closely with colleagues and customers/potential customers to identify new opportunities / applications for Imerys existing products and / or new products.
  • Be active in the development of new products as necessary
  • Provide technical support to customers to help maintain existing sales of Imerys products, and grow new sales.
  • Understand customers' /potential customers' needs, and then suggest & validate solutions to achieve benefit for both them & Imerys. Translate any lab. trials & developments into commercial success by trials on factories, either by yourself or by the supervision of others
  • Build strong technical relationships with customers
  • Ensure new sources of materials are fully tested and validated in terms of application suitability
  • Assist the general tech support team in tiles, tableware and electrical porcelain sectors if required.
  • Manage, coach and develop the junior members of the technical support team.
  • Be an ambassador of Imerys when travelling and visiting customers.
  • Work with a high regard to safety and follow the Imerys safety rules.
  • Good knowledge of white-ware ceramics and associated raw materials.
  • Experience of white-ware production processes, equipment and test methods used.
  • Experience of preparing & following written procedures related to Quality Control & Quality Assurance. Familiarity with industry relevant international standards would be an advantage. 
  • Fluent in Hindi & English. Language skills in Bengali & Gujarati would be an additional advantage.
  • Professional international exposure is desirable.
  • Good computer skills (inc. Microsoft Office, Google Suite). Experience with ERP systems is essential.
  • Be a self-starter, reliable & a team worker.
  • Good abilities in interpersonal relations, communications, presentations & analysis of data.
  • Strong customer focused approach

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

  • 5 years (with > 10 years an advantage) of experience of ceramic sanitaryware industry in production or technical position, or from an allied industry such as raw material supplier.
  • Understanding of raw materials, body formulations, glazes & engobes used sanitaryware.
  • Demonstrate experience of written procedures & standards relevant to lab. activities.
  • Graduate / postgraduate in a scientific subject would be an advantage.
