The Position

Supervisor-Electrical Shop

Job Summary

Electrical and Instrumentation Supervisor
Supervisor shall be responsible for the safe direction and planning of electrical and instrumentation maintenance at
the Lompoc facility. Will work closely with operations and engineering to provide direction to the maintenance crew
and coordinating with contractors to achieve safety and production goals.
Key Responsibilities
● Safety
o Ensure safe maintenance practices, systems, and processes are followed and comply with all federal,
state & MSHA regulations and standards.
o Demonstrate a personal commitment to working safely as an advocate and leader of a safe work culture
for all employees
o Support the site safety culture through leadership and regularly engaging with and holding the
workforce accountable for safe work practices, emphasizing personal awareness, responsibility and
ownership.
o Identify specific safety hazards that may be encountered in the execution of the work and ensure that
confined space, ventilation and other conditions requiring JSA and internal work permits are completed
prior to initiating efforts
o Lead crew in safe work practices
● Production
o Provide leadership to prioritize work assignments to maximize employee productivity and optimize
equipment utilization
o Work with all departments to plan and execute scheduled work
● Training
o Provide training and coaching to provide a complete and cross disciplinary understanding of
maintenance.
o Assess the needs of the crew and implement development processes
● Maintenance
o Screen incoming work orders for priority, scope and level of planning required
o Provide regular inspections of work areas
o Identify and correct any potential issues
o Monitor equipment for efficiency
o Use Preventive / Predictive maintenance procedures to identify problems and find solutions
o Identify and correct any potential issues
o Plan and schedule all work related to site E&I needs
o Manage relevant project work within cost and time constraints
o Manage contract labor as required
o Interface with supply chain for the purchase of spares, repairs and warranty issues
o Provide technical assistance for failure analysis on related components in conjunction with equipment
manufacturers
o Build effective working relationships with all departments through participation at meetings and
promoting daily, cooperative interaction
o Other duties as needed

Qualifications
● Must be proficient in troubleshooting skills
● Strong Leader
● Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
● Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Sheets, and Drive
● High School Diploma or equivalency
● 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in mining industry/heavy industrial using electrical/ Instrumentation,
fiber communication, AC and DC motors, reliability principles, and PLCs. Expertise in Allen Bradley logix5000,
500, and 5, preferred.
● State electrical licensing or technical electrical training/schooling

● Proven experience in dedication to documentation updates and creation for plant specific maintenance tasks
including calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
● Work with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic environment
● Practical knowledge of Motor Starters, MCCs, VFD powerflex 755, 700, 525, 480-volt and medium voltage 4160-
volt, 12kv systems.
● Electrical Engineering degree a plus
● knowledge of networking, ethernet data highway and profibus
● ability to configure, calibrate and troubleshoot instruments, such as level, weight, and temperature sensors
