The Position

Head of Purchasing EMEA

Job Summary

The Head of Purchasing EMEA will define, develop and roll-out purchasing strategy, instituting value and building a purchasing infrastructure.

He or she will lead the continuous development and control of an enhanced EMEA regional operating purchasing model and team to support Imerys’s ambition through achieving purchasing excellence.

The scope of the position is EMEA Region excluding HTS & RAC specific raw materials

The Head of EMEA Purchasing will have 12 direct reports & and responsible for an overall team of 80+ Purchaser across the region.

He or she will be managing $1100M+ in purchasing-addressable spend.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and approve sub-regional and category strategy for EMEA

  • Develop and execute the regional purchasing vision & strategy, with multi-year roadmap to establish function within key markets (UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy and Spain) in EMEA
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of regional Imerys requirements, align with global purchasing strategy

Leadership/people development

  • Build and continue improving the EMEA Purchasing organization, including processes & reporting structure
  • Lead, advise and develop direct reports; Benchmark best practices

Become a peer, counselor and partner to the BAs

  • Cultivate & maintain relationships with internal clients/business partners: RAC & HTS Purchasing Director, Perf Min EMEA, HTS & RAC leadership team.
  • Ensure internal customer satisfaction with the performance of the procurement team; adapt strategy to business needs

  • Projects / Initiatives completed and implemented to time, cost and/or quality standards
  • Cash Flow Improvement (using different levers like weighted average payment terms improvements)
  • % invoice without PO

Key Requirements:

  • Solid relevant experience in sourcing & purchasing in international environment (10 year+) with similar team & spend scale
  • Master degree in Purchasing, engineering background is also a plus
  • English fluent, German and/or French is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships & influence key decision makers internally & externally, regionally and globally
  • Proven experience in planning and leading complex negotiations
  • Highly motivated & results focused with the ability to act with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to operate and execute effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of the categories, markets, regulations & operations in the mineral mining world
  • Experience in managing large multi countries scattered team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
