The Position

EHS Regional Manager

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Regional EHS Manager role supports all aspects of the Imerys Safety System as well as EHS regulatory compliance with all governmental agencies with primary responsibility to deploy and drive group strategic initiatives that reduce or eliminate risk, continually improves EHS performance and reduce incidents. This role will lead the EHS programs across multiple operations in North America and one operation in South America within the High Temperature Solutions Business Area.The position supports the development, implementation and administration of all aspects of Safety and Environmental programs within the perimeter.

LOCATION OPTIONS: Roswell, GA or Cincinnati, OH

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor compliance with current and evolving Environmental, Health and Safety regulations along with additional company requirements. 

  • Promote, implement Imerys protocols concerning environmental, industrial hygiene and safety programs and procedures.

  • Develop, support and measure contractor compliance with Imerys protocol.

  • Coordinate and maintain all Industrial Hygiene personnel sampling equipment and required record keeping.

  • Lead and/or participate in Process Hazards Analysis activities and participate in technical review of process changes as necessary.

  • Prepares, maintains, and submits all safety and environmental reports and permits in a timely manner in accordance with Federal, State, and Local EH&S regulations.

  • Oversees and coordinates all training mandated by OSHA & EPA, state or local regulatory agencies and provides continuous training for Site coordinators, Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers and others.

  • Coordinates maintenance of management system per ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001

KEY TASKS:

  • Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.

  • Lead or participate in EHS audits/inspections of facilities and support corrective actions.

  • Lead in investigation and root cause analysis for on-site incidents.

  • Conduct/direct testing of workplace air quality, noise, temperature or radiation to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Support the Preparation and review of EHS training material

  • Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training

  • Active participation with the internal EHS Community.

  • Work closely with global and regional safety leaders across the company to develop, implement and measure success of safety programs through metric based global system.

  • Compile, analyze and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents.

  • Coordinate/participate on environmental agency compliance inspections.

  • Monitor compliance with all environmental regulations including but not limited to: Title V air permits, the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) plan, and the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other waste disposal regulations, and with Superfund Amendments and Re-authorization Act (SARA) with a focus on Tier I, Tier II and Form R reporting as applicable.

  • Support the Preparation and review of Health and Safety training

  • Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training

  • Maintains current working knowledge of Federal, State and local safety, environmental and occupational health regulations (e.g., OSHA, SARA, Clean Air and Water Acts).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical engineering, Mineral processing, Safety or Environmental engineering, or equivalent education and experience).

  • 10+ years combined experience in Safety and/or Environmental roles in a manufacturing/industrial environment. 

  • Environmental experience should include field oversight, environmental investigation, air, vibration and water sampling and multi-site manufacturing sites. 

  • Safety experience should include strong understanding of OSHA regulations, risk assessment & reduction, developing and administering training programs, accident investigation and resolution

  • Knowledge of environmental and safety compliance, permitting, incident investigating and reporting protocols.

  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.

  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees. Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

  • Strong understanding of Federal and State (OH, AL, MS, IA, GA) Safety and Environmental Regulations.

  • Experience with permitting requirements.

  • Travel up to 50%-Domestic, 2% International
