The Position

Human Resources Director

Job Summary

Based at our manufacturing plant in Lompoc, CA, Imerys is hiring a HR Director to support two Hubs: Mexico and US/Canada West.  This individual will partner with the Hubs’ Operations leadership teams to assess, anticipate and facilitate organizational design and talent strategies that align and enable short term and long-term operational needs and outcomes. This position reports to the VP of Human Resources.


  • Lead and facilitate the human capital activities for your leadership teams and align HR services, programs and priorities to business objectives.

  • Partner with the Hubs’ Operations Leadership teams to facilitate organizational design, workforce planning, and talent and leadership strategies.

  • Work closely with the COEs in order to evolve and align to the current HR operating model, services, programs and operations necessary to support the region.

  • Propose people solutions and/or organizational changes based upon an analysis of critical business opportunities. Help shape the business strategy, conduct organizational diagnosis to determine which capabilities are most critical, design and deliver people practices to accomplish strategy.

  • Demonstrate accountability by approaching problems systematically and leverage metrics to measure success and continuously improve

  • Act as agent, leader and advisor for change

  • Delivers people solutions that are considered value added, measurable, and directly tied to the business objectives

  • Lead, develop and manage HR resources in your organization to deliver 

  • Travel: Approximately 40%, including sites in Mexico



  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to speak fluent Spanish, preferred

  • Knowledge of multiple Human Resource disciplines, including but not limited to: organization design and development, workforce planning, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis and design, learning and development, employee relations, change management and performance management.

  • Prior experience in working in organizations undergoing transformation or significant business changes.

  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work effectively across and up and down all levels within the organization.

  • Ability to maintain composure and productivity in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexible and adaptable, an individual who embraces change, ambiguity, and challenges, and has a passion for improvement.
