Maintenance Electrical Planner

Job Summary

JOB PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES:

The Electrical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is a vital member of the maintenance team.  This position is focused primarily on improving the efficiency of the maintenance department by planning, organizing and scheduling the activities related to maintenance delivery, by ensuring the plan makes the most effective use of resources, facilities and equipment.

The primary goal of this position is to improve maintenance productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts, materials and equipment access.  In coordination with the other Maintenance Supervision and Trades, the Electrical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will provide support for long term program enhancements in the areas of preventive and predictive maintenance plan and reliability targets. ��The position will support the following programs or initiatives: asset criticality analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), planning, scheduling, precision maintenance procedure creation, downtime analysis and action planning to mitigate re-occurrence, essential asset care program, and root cause analysis.

The Electrical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler shall utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) primarily for the purpose of ensuring compliance to the maintenance plan and to maximize ‘tool time’ of the maintenance trades during execution of the work.  Maintenance Planning for planned maintenance activities shall ensure the trades do quality work by providing all the parts, tools, information, procedures and check testing needed to deliver a quality job. Planning should always be done before scheduling. Planning is, for example, to get the right spare parts, materials, specialty equipment and/or tools, and skills defined to ensure the work can be done as required and as efficiently as possible. Scheduling involves taking decisions regarding the allocation of available capacity or resources (equipment, labor and space) to jobs, activities and tasks over time. Scheduling thus results in a time-phased plan, or schedule of activities.

The Electrical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler shall work closely with the Maintenance Superintendent, Storeroom Supervisor, Electrical Engineer and Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Trades, the Mechanical Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Reliability Team, Production Team, Quality Team and Project Team to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the maintenance process at the installation in order to increase overall equipment reliability. As directed, this position will be directed to provide, technical, administrative assistance and coordination for maintenance reliability improvement efforts under direction, assist in the development and implementation of various maintenance programs including preventative and predictive maintenance. This individual will gather information, conduct analysis, interpret findings, and participate in the development and implementation of recommendations for changes and improvements to existing maintenance PM (preventive), Pdm (predictive) and CBM (Condition Based Maintenance) programs, work standards, work practices and procedures.

KEY RESULTS AREAS / PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the principal contact and liaison person between Maintenance, Production and other Operations or support departments. 
  • Ensure the safe behaviors and safety compliance of the crews and maintenance contractors under their guidance
  • Site SME (Subject Matter Expert) of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software
  • Provide technical training for Maintenance, Production and other Operations or support departments related to CMMS, necessary to facilitate proper use of the CMMS
  • Order and track the necessary parts, tools, equipment and resources needed to complete the jobs that are planned.
  • Maintain and utilize assigned company credit card for purchases of items as required to support maintenance need
  • Project Support: Assuring that reliability and maintainability principles are integrated into all large and small capital projects. The level of support will depend on the size, complexity, and phase of the project. This support includes the set-up of equipment, job guidelines, PM’s and bill of materials within CMMS.
  • Establish and maintain a partnership with Production for the planning of the release of equipment and scheduling of work execution.
  • Make sure the maintenance plan is completed on time and that the necessary resources and material are provided.
  • Analyze the time differences between planned job time and actual job time.
  • Correct the work procedures to take into account any changes that need to be made to the planned hours for jobs.
  • Participate and as required facilitate problem investigation and analysis of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for applicable equipment failures or trends. This includes investigation and support of maintenance and operational issues in collaboration with Maintenance leadership and other Operations teams.
  • Provide back-up for the maintenance leadership as required
  • Assist in development of the maintenance budget and plans
  • Provide projected costs for Maintenance planned shutdown activities and actual cost reconciliation upon the completion of Maintenance Shutdowns
  • Coordinate use of external contractors for planned maintenance activates, to include maintaining and updating maintenance contractor approval database.
  • Assist with the development of CMMS
  • Track and manage key performance indicators for area of responsibility
  • Expected to participate as a rotating Duty Manager and be on-call for related activities

DIMENSIONS / FACTS AND FIGURES

  • Personal Safety Performance (Zero Accident or Injury, Safety Dialogue completion compliance and as specified during annual appraisal)
  • Maintenance Shutdown Plan – Prepare job and shutdown schedules to coordinate with Production operations. Deliver completed shutdown plan in timely manner in accordance with established referential.
  • Preventive Maintenance Compliance Ratio (Planned vs. Actual)
  • Continuous improved Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance and Basic Care procedures as measured by compliance to target Maintenance type ratios (Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance , Breakdown Maintenance and Reliability Maintenance)
  • Increased Maintenance Effectiveness and Efficiency (planned/scheduled vs break down)
  • Realization of established Maintenance reliability targets (Shared Departmental goal)
  • Compliance to Planned Maintenance budget (Support responsibility with Maintenance Manager)
  • Environment and Regulatory – Provides support to ensure compliance to the plant operating permits (Activities undertaken to remain complaint with Environmental and Regulatory requirements)
  • Achievement of specific annual goals as set by Maintenance Manager

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • Education Required: AS degree in technical field of study (Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial) or a combination of technical training plus the required 5+ years of experience in the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience Required: 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment is required with maintenance supervision experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency level computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office programs is required
  • Analytical and detail oriented with a high level of commitment and self-motivation
  • Proficiency level knowledge and use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is required, Siveco COSWIN  experience is a preferred
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to multitask and manage expectations of Maintenance, Production and other Operations or support departments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, the ability to pick, pinch or otherwise work primarily with fingers to operate key board for computer work.  This position requires the employee to frequently walk, bend, stoop and have the ability to lift and or move up to 25 pounds and mostly works in an office or plant environment.  This position is exposed to a cement and often dusty plant work environment and with contact with our product.  Based on the hazards of working in a plant/industrial environment, this position requires alertness, the ability to think rationally while working on multiple tasks.  This position needs the ability to express or exchange ideas, provide detailed spoken instructions by means of the spoken word to impact oral information to managers, suppliers, contractors, co-workers, direct report or the public.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is required to stand, walk, sit and climb or balance.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
