Job Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for the installation and rebuilding machinery and miscellaneous equipment and parts.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• . The Maintenance Mechanic will perform all necessary repairs and/or modifications to plant machinery or equipment as required to maintain optimum availability.  Repairs may include rebuilding/replacement of machinery, gearboxes, bearings; fabrication to include cutting/welding of metal plates for chutes, structures, etc.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance procedures as assigned
  • Follow all Safety procedures while performing duties to include but not limited to LOTO, wearing appropriate PPE for assigned duties
• Perform Level 2 or higher maintenance on equipment in area of responsibility as needed
• Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility as per Imerys Refractory Minerals standards
• Perform any additional duties as described Maintenance Supervisor

Skills and Attributes Requirements

• Must be able to effectively communicate both orally or written
• Must be able to work shifts as per schedule
• Must be able to work in hot and cold weather conditions.
• Must be able to climb ladders and work in high places.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs unassisted
• Will be required to wear all necessary PPE
• Will require basic computer skills necessary to access/write emails, basic word documents, complete work requests

Education/Experience Requirements

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Two years experience in industrial maintenance and repairs preferred

Environment

• While performing the duties of this job; the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise, outside weather in all conditions and materials used in the process.
• Frequent walking, standing, and sitting with exposure to all seasonal climatic conditions.
• Occasionally lifting, carrying, and/or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
• Approximately 100% plant environment.
