The Position

General Operations Coordinator

Job Summary

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fully supports the location health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) programs by overseeing their implementation, maintenance and compliance with company programs. 
  • Assists in coordinating activities of plant production workers to ensure that work performed meets operational objectives and requirements.
  • Supports operational procedures, processes and compliance for product conformance, associated Quality Control requirements and investigation of non-conforming product.
  • Daily payroll administration duties such as, but not limited to, scheduling, time keeping, payroll codes, sick time, vacation, etc.
  • Assists Supervisor with production planning for the Penhorwood Mill and Foleyet Operations
  • Assists with coordination of Foleyet planning and resources
  • Assists with the development and implementation of plant-related projects
  • Assists with administration of HR, HSEQ policies at the location. 
  • Assists and conducts investigations to resolve problems, find solutions and follow through with remedial actions.
  • Conducts training of workers to ensure requirements are met, improve work performance and motivates work force to accomplish both location and company objectives. 
  • Maintains records, prepares reports, performs regular plant site tours in Penhorwood and Foleyet
  • Coordinates truck / trailer maintenance and performs fuel dips
  • Participates in plant meetings, team meetings (as applicable), and on-call duties. 
  • Maintains courteous, professional relationships at all times with employees, contractors and government agencies. 
  • Must have the professional skills and abilities to replace Mill Supervisor along with associated duties when required.

Other duties as assigned and flexible with changes within the role, due to the nature of this being a new role.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience requirements:

  • Knowledge of industrial operations. 
  • 2-3 years minimum of related experience preferred
  • Supervisory skills and ability to effectively oversee assigned work, effectively manage human relations and conflict, oversee policies and procedures whenever replacing Mill Supervisor

Knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics:

  • Organizational skills for organizing and scheduling production activities, conducting meetings, providing training, and ensuring the implementation, maintenance and support of various programs.
  • Analytical skills to help identify opportunities for improvement or optimization of processes, quality, safety, or other operational resources as well as to resolve problems.
  • Mathematical skills in order to prepare reports and maintain records. 
  • Computer skills are required to manage and utilize data management software packages.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential
  • Good leadership skills are needed to assure that production employees work safely, efficiently, and toward common corporate/location goals and objectives.
  • Administrative skills are required to manage paperwork, systems, schedule work and ensure that employees have the resources needed to execute their activities safely and efficiently.
  • Self-motivation is necessary to ensure that the work progresses with minimal supervision. 
  • Being a self-starter is essential as well as having the ability to effectively receive instructions and provide follow through.
  • Training and team building skills to improve individual competencies as well as develop focused group action.
  • Communications skills will be used to interact with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Delegation skills are necessary to plan, direct and assign work as required.
