The Position

Project and Process Engineer

Job Summary


Part of the Industrial Center of Excellence (27 people), the Project and Process engineer will support the BA sites on Project and Process by:

  • Identifying and working with the team on main focus areas of process where improvements will give highest benefit to the organization.

  • Studying and developing projects on new processes and/or optimizing existing ones through Capital Expenditure to meet new opportunities, to enhance efficiency and cost competitiveness of the BA sites

  • Leading and supporting implementation of the industrial projects below 1M€ in support to BA sites



Part of the Business Area Performance Minerals EMEA Center of Excellence.

BA scope is: 80 sites in 24 countries - 3700 employees - €1.0b revenue.

The position can be located in one of our Sites in Europe with travels (near 50%  of the time depending on the location & on-going projects).



  • Lead engineering studies and industrial project implementations that have been assigned (typical size 100k to 1m€) with the support of other technical experts of the team, BA plant teams being the internal customers.

  • Establish Capital Expenditure Requests (CER) for projects that have been assigned, or be able to evaluate & challenge CER submitted by the plant teams.

  • Train plant teams on Group capex guidelines, support the common usage of Group templates and engineering documents

  • Support BA projects managers for projects above 1m€ on engineering, process design parts, if need be

  • Optimize BA existing processes with state of the art technologies in order to optimize efficiency, productivity, quality, safety and profitability within the continuous improvement program.

  • Challenge and help the teams find ideas to define optimization of existing processes or new ones by focusing on basics: mass and energy balance, flow sheet optimization, yields and recovery ratios, quality improvements, operating equipment efficiency improvements.

  • Provide in-depth technical assistance to solve complex process issues and to optimize plant equipment performance across BA.

  • Provide mentorship for the team and on-site process and engineering teams, also via technical training and best practice transfers.

  • Key interfaces: ensure tight coordination with plant management teams and other Center of Excellence Team Members & external suppliers & notably engineering companies.


Education, Experience & Competency requirements

  • Engineer degree
  • Fluent English, any other European languages will be a plus
  • Cooperation mindset and openness to listen to the input from different stakeholders (internal customers - plant management teams)
  • Demonstrated capabilities of reaching cost reduction and productivity by working on process improvement, development of new processes
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to establish clear and structured project executive summary documents and project justifications
  • Problem solving skills
  • Analytical and synthetic mindset
  • Good Knowledge in minerals processing
  • > 5/7 years experience in project management
