The Position

Project & New Business Development Manager

Job Summary

Job summary

  • Identify, lead and facilitate projects involving internal resources and external stakeholders for developing new business for Ceramics EMEA under the supervision of the Project & New Business Development Director and in close collaboration with sales directors, the marketing director, the technical support director and the project managers of the segment

Key responsibilities

  • Identify and develop the opportunities of new business in the various Ceramics subsegment
  • Define the right products, market approach, operational set-up and external partners  for implementing those opportunities
  • Break down these into tangible objectives and associated sets of actions
  • Prioritize and recommend the opportunities and projects to pursue and implement
  • Lead informal teams and facilitate the team work for executing these actions and reaching the objectives
  • Manage the contacts with external partners
  • Lead and document periodic work sessions per project or objectives
  • Prepare and lead periodic reviews, including presentations
  • Maintain knowledge of and relationships with the key players of the industrial mineral industry serving the Ceramics and Building Product segment
  • Also collaborate with sales manager, legal team of the Ceramics and Building Product segment and relevant stakeholders of the PM EMEA and Imerys organization


  • Contribute to setting the path to development of and completing the new business objectives of the Ceramics and Building Products segment, by profitable internal or external growth
  • Lead the project which (s)he’s in charge of to successful completion


  • Ability to manage complex projects leading transversal teams 
  • Good understanding of P&L data and financial modeling as key tools to understand the new business' profitability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimum supervision and deliver results in due time
  • Good understanding of the markets of the Ceramics and Building Products segment and their supply markets including their key players
  • Business minded and seeking Imerys benefit
  • Strong project and informal team management skills in order to mobilize the team around the objective
  • Good presentation and communication skills that can adapt across multiple levels of partners’ organization
  • Ability to build both internal and external relationship
  • Ability to adapt the approach to circumstances (from diplomatic to unflexible)
  • Good technical skills to understand how our products are made and add value to the customer.
  • Ability to adapt to/ apply Imerys values and new ways of working
  • Ideal background/ experience

Education & Experience

  • Master degree in Science, Engineering ,
  • Masters or MBA Preferred
  • Strong experience of project management
  • 5 - 8 years experience in marketing, sales or business development with a technical product
  • Knowledge of the markets of the Ceramics and Building Product segment 
  • Typical profile
  • Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Technical Sales Manager
