CONTEXT
Within the Process team of RAC (Refractory, Abrasive & Construction) Industrial Support, the perimeter covers all of the RAC industrial sites (about 40 plants in North America, Europe, Middle East, South Africa, India and China).
The job will be preferably based in ITC Lyon in Vaulx-Milieu, although it could be on another RAC site.
Frequent travels in France and worldwide will be required, for about 40% of the time.
MISSIONS
Reporting to the Senior Process Manager of RAC Industrial Support, the Process Manager is the technical reference for grinding and classification of mineral products (raw materials, CAC clinker, chamotte, andalusite…) and for clay preparation systems.
He/she contributes to raise the level of safety at work, to improve the overall performance of industrial sites (quality mastery, capacity increases, optimization of energy consumption), to develop and share technical knowledge and good practices and to strengthen industrial mastery.
He/she regularly interacts with plant process engineers and with other departments within Industrial Support (including I-cube, projects, energy), and less frequently with other Imerys teams, with equipment suppliers and with external companies.
Main missions :
Safety
Personally work with the highest level of safety
Contribute to improve safety within RAC sites, in particular during plant visits
Participate to actions on process safety during installation of new equipment, or within the scope of BA initiatives
Projects
Identify modifications that could be done on existing equipment or new installations necessary to increase production or to improve quality and efficiency.
Participate in opportunity and feasibility studies for these projects
In the detailed engineering phases, contribute to equipment definition, exchanges with suppliers and guarantees definition.
Participate in start-up of new grinding / clay preparation equipment, and lead the optimization phase after commissioning.
Support to plants
Upon request from the plants, perform assistance missions to optimize equipment or improve performance on clay preparation and grinding workshops.
Keep a regular contact with plant process engineers to follow industrial performance, monitor changes and propose corrective actions when necessary
Perform technical audits in priority plants, in particular to map the main bottlenecks in the grinding / clay preparation workshops
Work with industrial sites and purchasing department to widen the list of potential suppliers of critical parts (wear parts, mill liners, mill diaphragms, grinding media…) and to optimize replacement costs
Process network - knowledge sharing
Implement and animate a network between process / Opex engineers in plants, in order to bolster information sharing and good practices exchanges
Deliver a specific technical training to new process engineers
Ensure technology watch, keep contacts with potential suppliers, organize and share knowledge
Establish contacts and exchanges with specialists of the same processes in other Imerys BAs
Prepare and animate training sessions on grinding and classification, upon request from hubs and sites
PROFILE
Relevant engineering or technical degree, for instance in process engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, geology and mining…
Good theoretical and practical knowledge of crushing, grinding, separation and classification processes. Competencies in clay treatment (milling, extrusion…) would be a plus.
5 to 10 years experience on grinding and classification processes required, and if possible on clay preparation
Experience of working in a plant (production, process…) would be a plus.
Analytical competencies, capacity to solve complex problems
Good relations and listening skills with plant people, capacity to convince
Autonomous, driving changes
At ease with IT systems, including industrial systems and modelization tools
Professional mastery of English required, ability to work in French is desirable
