The Position

Vehicle Technician

Job Summary



Imerys Minerals Ltd has a vacancy for a Vehicle Technician based at Nanpean Nr. St Austell working a  7 day dayshift pattern working as part of a small team supporting Imerys vehicles & equipment.

The work is highly varied over a wide range of Imerys owned equipment including light commercial vehicles, 4 x 4’s, LGVs, trailers, industrial diesel engines, diesel locomotives and ancillary equipment covering all aspects of inspection, repair and maintenance activities.

The role will cover both workshop & Imerys site based maintenance activities.

As a Vehicle Technician reporting to the Transport Manager, in addition to being a working member of the team, the role will cover - maintaining safety standards, liaising with vehicle users, work planning, spares sourcing, record keeping & direct support for the team.

The successful candidate will:

Be a skilled vehicle technician with experience on light commercial vehicles
Be a problem solver, with attention to detail 
Have a demonstrated strong focus on safety
Be able to work without direct supervision
Hold a full clean driving licence 
Have good IT skills
Have high standards of housekeeping
Able to work to documented procedures and O licence requirements (where applicable).
Ensure paperwork and documentation is completed to a high standard

Have experience in the following or be prepared to learn through training:
Light commercial vehicle servicing, repair & maintenance to MOT standard
12/24V electrical system fault diagnosis & repair
Diagnosis of vehicle faults using computer based diagnostic equipment

LGV servicing, repair & maintenance to DVSA O Licence requirements & MOT standard experience
Industrial diesel engine servicing, repair & maintenance
Large diesel powered generator servicing, repair & maintenance
Diesel rail locomotive servicing, repair & maintenance

The following would be an advantage:

Fork-lift licence 
Welding experience
