The Position

Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the following areas:

EH&S & PSM:

  • Understand and adhere to all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S ) policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensure all craft workers are compliant with all EH&S standing instructions and applicable Maintenance Procedures.
  • Maintain visible and active field presence to promote safe working environments.
  • Work with Operations and relevant stakeholders to investigate incidents and initiate immediate corrective action.
  • Communicate incident investigation findings with department and key stakeholders.

PERFORMANCE:

  • Act as Imerys Sylacauga Subject Matter Expert for all Mechanical Maintenance and repair of equipment 
  • Lead a crew of Maintenance Millwrights fabricators , pipefitters dust collector technicians and lubrication oilers and contractor staff , for the maintenance and repair of all plant mechanical maintenance . Includes supervisory requirements, such as, scheduling personnel to cover required work, documentation of work practices by individuals to ensure compliance to plant procedures and adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform gap assessments to identify value-added areas with the highest return on investment and/or risk.  
  • Lead continuous improvements in Mechanical , fabrication  strategies through development and application of effective reliability strategies such as: risk-based maintenance, identification and assessment of risks, root cause and bad actor analysis and spare parts reviews.
  • Provide capital projects and shutdown support through active participation in work scope development, peer reviews, design and procurement activities.
  • Work scope development for bids and conduct bid reviews. travel to shops for hold point inspections.
  •  Provide consultation and on-site support for installation, commissioning and/or start-up of equipment.  
  • Help Plan and schedule mechanical , fabrication , Installation and QA /QC  on a daily basis with assistance from work planner 
  • Provide support to major projects, shutdown reliability and maintenance on technical specifications, bid packages and technical submittal reviews for procurement.
  • Follow approved Imerys Sylacauga's procedures to inspect, test, repair, replace, as necessary, all types of mechanical and process equipment .  
  • Ensure preventative maintenance duties are performed on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems.      
  • Responsible for maintenance of complete equipment files, logs and drawings for all designated equipment.    
  • Responsible for inventory control and timely ordering of all spare parts, tools, materials and equipment required for normal plant maintenance. 
  •  Assist with forecasting needs for parts materials and equipment required for outages and special projects.  
  • Coordinate, conduct, analyze and interpret a wide variety of technical data 
  • Assist with root cause investigations of any operational incidents and assume lead role for those involving Mechanical and fabrication issues.
  • Plan, prepare and present training for Mechanical Maintenance and lubrication group and cross training for other plant personnel to increase capabilities and performance while enhancing safety levels.
  • Ensure MOCs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate the performance of maintenance personnel and make recommendations on training requirements .
  • initiate disciplinary warnings and institutes disciplinary action based on the Union contract 

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:

  • Provide feedback and ensure meetings for the maintenance,operations and engineering teams on the availability of parts and status of execution are provided and documented  in a timely manner. 
  • Provide feedback on craft and vendor performance to Maintenance Reliability and Engineering Manager 
  • Ensure Maintenance craft-person are familiar with and aware of any changes to maintenance procedures

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Maintenance Supervisor
