UK Industrial Hub - Operations – Port and Transport 

Port Operative (G2*)

Two vacancies are available for a Port Operative within the Port and Transport Function based at Fowey.

The successful applicants will work within a team to facilitate the movement of clays from the production locations through to the ships in the Port of Fowey, and the loading out of aggregates to vessels.  The role involves all aspects of the operation including Front End Loading, Ship Loading and some LGV Driving.  The position will be based on a 2 shift pattern  06:00 - 14:00 and 14.00 - 22.00 with flexibility to coincide with shipping requirements.

The main duties include:

• Front End Loader driving on the port and in various other areas to effect the accurate

• loading of road and rail for the FOB operation

• Effective loading of ships in Fowey on both the fixed and mobile ship loaders

• Tipping of rail in Fowey in accordance with Company procedures

• Operating LGV’s (Dock Runners) within the port boundaries in Par and Fowey to facilitate

        the loading of ships in Fowey

• Operate a forklift truck.

• Perform Slinging and Lifting duties as part of a bag gang

• Operating materials handler and related loading equipment

The successful candidate will be required to have the following attributes:

• Mobile plant experience desirable, especially in Front End Loaders

• Fork Lift Truck licence 

• LGV Class C+E licence would be a distinct advantage

• Good interpersonal skills

• A flexible approach to work is essential

• High level of Health and Safety and Environmental awareness

• A full driving licence and applicants must be 21 or over to be permitted to operative LGVs

Training in the above  will be provided for the right candidate.
